“One-of-a-kind Fairfield Inn”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 21, 2013

Stayed at many Fairfield Inns, this is the first one with a bar and a courtyard with sitting area and gas fireplace. Also has a large, nicely-appointed lobby and breakfast area, although the food offerings are similar to other Fairfield Inns. The person at the desk when I checked in late afternoon gave me a $99 rate after I asked for something better than the AAA rate of $119. (More than I can say for the full-service Wichita Marriott person, who wouldn't budge of the $161 AAA rate despite plenty of empty rooms.) The rooms here have nice decor. Bed very cushy. Minor gripes: Room really small; no restaurants or much of anything else within walking distance; and a glass of beer at the bar was $5.50. Parking free, but is next door and up a floor in the garage.

Room Tip: Get a room facing the courtyard, quiter and more pleasant than facing street. Parking garage says ho...

“Great stay, EXL staff!, perfect hotel (except parking)”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 2, 2013

Had a great stay here over Christmas (7 nts) to see family. Staff was awesome, they were all very friendly incl. desk, bkfst, and housekeeping. Among the best i've seen in US. Esp. for Wichita which has generally cold/lackluster customer service culture. Pool was good, excercise room nice. Good bkfst, lot of variety. Parking is weird, somewhat inconvenient, but not too bad. Walk to Arenas, river, several fastfood. Good central location for Wichita, easy jump on Kellogg/54. Brand new hotel, all in great condition, should be a nice spot for years to come.

“Park next door”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 19, 2012

This is a fairly new property next door to an upscale multi-use complex with stores, offices and condominiums with several lower floors available for free hotel parking. This is the hotel's only drawback as there is no direct link between the two buildings. The lobby is bright and cheery and the front desk staff helpful and accommodating within their limits (they were unable to convert Marriott Rewards points to airline mileage; I had to do that on-line or by phone later). Lacking a mini-fridge (and not being offered one) having booked only a "standard room," I asked to be placed near an ice machine as I needed to chill insulin. The staff put me right next to that first floor facility, though it was at the far end of the hall across from the fitness center and pool. The room had the usual white 3-wall and ceiling/one wall some shade of brown paint job offset by a lovely blue and green carpet with a tasteful, classically inspired overlaid square pattern. The large window overlooked a nearby sidewalk with some questionable passers-by, but I certainly felt safe. Situated next to very busy Route 54/Kellogg Ave., the room was remarkably well sound-proofed, although nearby train whistles could certainly not be ignored. The furniture was functional, although the one very small easy chair was wedged into a corner between an exterior wall and bedside table. Happily, the bedside lamps sported sockets with which I could plug in my CPAP machine.

The king-sized bed was blissfully comfortable and the bathroom amply supplied, although in order to open the bathtub drain (Why do maids insist on closing these when I'd guess 75% of lodgers take showers?), I found myself unwittingly pulling the entire stopper out of the drain.
Even at the senior rate, I found this property a bit over-priced - especially for a week-end night in Wichita, KS. I by-passed the complimentary breakfast as I was eager to be on my way the morning of my departure.

“CLEAN!!!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 7, 2012

I travel ocasionaly for work and have been staying at this hotels now several times. The hotel staff is very nice and accomodating. Rooms are clean and modern and bright.
This is the only hotel I am looking forward to room service, the food from Larkspur restaurant is phenomenal.

Room Tip: Drawback is the rooms close to courtyard, very noisy when activities happen outside.

“Nice place near riverwalk”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

We were staying for a rabbit convention and it was a really nice place. I had a bunch of kids with me so the pool worked out well as well as the location next to the riverwalk. I don't think anyone would be disappointed staying here. The parking garage is a little goofy in it's setup, but it's free and will take a full size van which is a plus.
