I visited Wichita the blazingly hot weekend of the 4th to see the Star Wars: Where Science Meets Imagination exhibit. I have to admit that I am a big fan of the movies and the promise of seeing actual film props is what drew me to Wichita. I have to say that the exhibition's website does not do the actual presentation justice. The quality and quantity of props, films, and costumes was amazing. And to my pleasure the props spanned all six Star Wars movies, not just the original trilogy.
The exhibition cost $20 per adult and included entrance to the science museum, a planetarium show, and a game of mini-golf (outside).
Exploration Place itself looked very nice. The architecture was lovely, and the exhibits were well maintained. It is, however, geared to kids, of which we had none. Parking was free and ample, both really nice extras for a downtown attraction. There are several other museums in the area, including an art museum and a history museum. If you are planning on seeing the Star Wars exhibit, you may want to make a day of it and check out some other downtown attractions. There are plenty of hotels nearby.
