I have been attending events at Century II for a long time. It has pretty standard convention and trade show features, as well as a smaller theater. On this occasion I was attending my daughter's dance recital and dress rehearsal the night before in the Mary Jane Teall theater.
When you go to Century II bring change, because if you are fortunate enough to get in the closest parking lots they have parking meters. You should also plan to do some walking.
Century II serves its purpose, but could really use a facelift. It was once state of the art and modern, but not in decades. While most things still function well, cosmetically it is stuck several decades ago. The Mary Jane Teall Theater and surrounding restrooms and lobbies still sport the original late 1960s color scheme. Restrooms are adequate in number, but humid, stuffy, and original. The dressing rooms for performers are in kind of bad shape and are way below the stage. They are dingy and musty at best, and involve a lot of stairs getting to and from these rooms. The seating in the theater is crowded by modern standards and the padded seating has held up really well for the number of people who have surely sat in over the years.
Overall, most of the complaints are largely cosmetic and you usually attend events there not because of the facility, but because of the event itself since the destination isn't the attraction here. There are several much nicer and newer facilities in Wichita, but this one fills a unique purpose. Hopefully someday soon, they can do some restoration so this facility can join this century.
