Re: Salina Ambassador Hotel
May 21 - 24, 2015
We had reservations for one room with two beds as well as a handicap room. When we arrived we were told that they had apparently overbooked however the parking lot was nearly empty. Twice, we were given room keys for a handicapped room which were not handicapped once we checked the rooms. Housekeeper, Keisha, informed us that there was a handicapped room available however the assistant manager, Melissa, insisted she was incorrect. Keisha took us to the room and it was handicapped. Though the bathroom was handicapped the rest of the room was unfortunately too small for a power wheelchair.
We moved three times in three nights due to the smell of smoke in the hallway and our room; ant infestation on account of two boxes of wings left inside the microwave which we just happened to discover, there were ants in the beds, bathrooms, refrigerator - everywhere; our shower was not working - water would only come out of the faucet which was barely intact to the shower wall as well as the bathroom ceiling light was falling down. In addition, the first room was not cleaned when we initially checked in; key cards did not work 75% of the time; once upon returning to our room we discovered our door was open, uncleaned, however nothing seemed amiss; one morning we had just awakened and a person opened our door with their key; the halls and rooms were poorly lighted.
If it had not been for a housekeeper, Keisha, we would have left the first night. She was extremely helpful, well-spoken, and did her best to accommodate us. On the other hand, the Assistant Manager was unprofessional, rude, and as she mumbled to a desk clerk she refused to inform us what she was doing to rectify our problems. Keisha, a housekeeper, was our savior. She would be better suited for the Assistant Manager role than Melissa.
