On our way back home, we passed through Salina, KS. We'd used a GPS to tell us to find a restaurant close to I-70 and when we got off at this exit found the restaurant that was supposed to be here per the GPS had moved further into town and the Iron Skillet had replaced it. Initially we were going to pass because we felt it was probably just a cookie cutter restaurant. Boy, are we glad that the manager asked us to give the place a try (it had only been open a few days.)
The manager had told us the chicken fried steak was hand cut and battered so we decided that was perfect for lunch. With the meal we got to visit the salad bar which was very fresh and full of good choices. When we were served our entree, we were impressed. The chicken fried steak was as good as promised. On top of all this, the people were really friendly and helpful. I would definitely visit this restaurant again if we were in the area.
