This motel is right on the interstate and seems to cater exclusively to folks driving across the country and needing a quick, cheap place to stay. The Knights Inn fits that bill. It is a little bit nicer on the inside than it looks like it will be on the outside. It is not super clean (hair came out of the drain when we ran the bath, for example), but it seems they try hard to make it the best it can be. I didn't use the indoor pool, but it actually looked acceptable. The breakfast, like the hotel, was the bare minimum necessary -- some coffee, tea, and a few packaged muffins. Better than nothing. This place is a good value -- you probably won't find a better price and still be safe and mostly clean. The mexican restaurant right next door was surprisingly decent.

Room Tip: Obviously, on the side away from the highway. Otherwise, I'm sure they are all the same.

The rooms were a little dated but were very well taken care of and clean. The bed was comfortable and that was what we were looking for after a long day traveling. There was a little hwy noise but not bad. The man at the front desk was very nice and helpful. We thought this hotel was a good value.

Before I get into the motel review, I'll mention there's a Western Sizzlin' just down the street at 1708 Crawford which has a nice and reasonable lunch buffet. Probably priced higher on weekends.

To start with about the motel, all rooms are on the first floor, the two luggage carts I saw were clean, and I'm not positive but I don't recall the carpet in the room being dirty like some. My wife and I just wanted a basic place to overnight while traveling and she made a reservation on her iPad. She forgot to indicate AARP and the rate she got was $55 so she then called the motel and asked about the AARP rate which turned out to be $50. The owner/manager(?) said he couldn't do anything if she had made the reservation on line but we ended up with it when checking in (??). When talking with him on the phone my wife wasn't impressed but in person he was somewhat personable. Of course Knights Inns aren't on a par with places like Hampton Inn and although the breakfast wasn't anything to write home about the place met our needs well and the price was good. In the three brief times I interacted with the owner/manager, my impression was that he's trying to run a good operation so we plan to stay there again if needing a room in Salina. Oh, the location is about 3-1/2 miles south of I-70 on I-135.

Room Tip: We didn't seem to be bothered by noise from the interstate but you might want to ask for a room...
