“Avoid at all cost.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed October 11, 2013 via mobile

my wife and i ate here on wednesday when returning home from vacation. My wife had a grilled chicken sandwich with waffle-cut fries and i had the big turkey sandwch also with waffle-cut fries. Her chicken sandwich was desert dry and flavorless. My turkey breast was more like cheap grocery-store lunch meat. Also the bacon i was supposed to have was dime-sized. Why bother??! And the coating on the aw-ful fries gaves us indigestion so bad even multiple doses ot antacids didn't help. Please avoid this place. Eat in KansasCity or Emporia, you'll be happier. And healthier!

“OK dining, attempts at home cooking but not really it”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 10, 2013

We had a variety of things ordered at our table...the tuna salad, which was about 3/4C of a typical tuna salad on a bed of lettuce, a slice of bread, small bowl of cottage cheese, and small bowl of canned fruit cocktail (the menu read seasonal or fresh fruit...and it ended up being canned fruit, this was in June), for 8.95. The open faced roast beef and turkey sandwiches also ordered, they were in the $7 range. They were good but loaded with gravy and a bit heavy on the saltiness. The mashed potatoes are 'fake' powder version not real. The taco salad was reported to be good by one in our party.
The pies/desserts in the front display case looked delicious, but we didn't order desserts.

“homestyle menu”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 2, 2013

I had liver and onions which was a very good value at less than $10.00 but another diner in our group had an omelet, side salad, and pie and his ticket was over $24.00....seemed a bit high. Another diner had a 2 pork chop dinner.....the chops were barely 1/4 inch thick....the 2 should've been left attached to make one - 1/2 inch chop, would be more desirable. Probably won't go back.

“Home style food, good prices”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 8, 2012

My mom & I enjoyed dinner here the other night. They feature home made foods, but we both had sandwiches. I had a Reuben and mom had a Club. Both were excellent and full of meat. Prices were very reasonable too. Waitress was very friendly. Filled out a service survey & received a coupon for 10% off our next visit. We plan to use that next week when we are in Ottawa again.

“Great home cooked meals & delicious Pies!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 29, 2012

Visited this establishment three times this week just to try several menu Items. Everything was tasty, the servers were very attentive and made sure we were happy with everything. They had a large selection of homemade pies. The home-town diner feel along with the great food would make this place a winning combination in any town.
