“Comfy bed”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 1, 2013

Location is great. Just south of 119th and i-35, on Strang Line, which runs parallel to 35. Several hotels in the area, but this one sets in a quiet setting, just far enough away from 119th to be very quiet. There is a great pond with fountain to the south and to the east, trees, and there is a patio area on the east side to enjoy some coffee or breakfast. For those coffee drinkers there are 3 Starbucks w/in a mile- one just to West over the highway, one to the East near Marshalls, and one in the Super Target on the corner. Granite City Brewer is very good, and tons of other sit down or fast food restaurants...especially OK Joe's- excellent! The room was normal to small sized. Had 2 queen beds. Mattress seemed to be a memory foam style, very comfy! Tons of pillows on beds. Nice TV, several channels, but no tons. Small fridge and micro. Bathroom- mirrored/sink area is small-ish. Sink/Closet area just outside shower/toilet room. Shower was good and good water pressure. Towels a bit thin. Did not try breakfast or pool. I would stay here again...especially for the price we paid compared with the other hotels in the area. Plenty of parking.

Thank you so much for taking the time to complete a review of the Fairfield Inn & Suites of Olathe, KS. We are very pleased to see that you enjoyed your stay with us and certainly appreciate your positive feedback.

I'm pleased you enjoyed our back deck which overlooks the peaceful lake behind our property. It's a unique find in the middle of a city area! It's also great to see you really enjoyed the local dining, hopefully next time you'll get a chance to try our deluxe breakfast buffet at the start of your day.

We stayed here for 2 nights in May. It was quiet, clean, and friendly. No bugs. Breakfast was nice.It had a nice fruit salad each morning, which I have't seen at other hotels. Staff was very accommodating. It is withing walking distance to several restaurants and a movie theater. Area seemed safe. Easy access to highway.
Would stay here again.

First off; my wife and I are Marriott Rewards members so this is one of the hotels in the Marriott stable. Having said that Marriott doesn't pay me to review their hotels. We stayed at this hotel on Strang Ave for two nights this week. Front desk service was very, very good (Jane was especially helpful). The room (king) was really big with a setting area and desk which I did not expect. The maid sevice was great. My only issue with the room was that it took quite a while for the water in the shower to warm up but that was my own doing as I requested a nice 'quiet' room and it was at the end of the hall on the first floor and was indeed 'quiet'. The breakfast was nothing short of fantastic. Sausage and eggs, biscuits and gravy, waffles, If you left hungry from there it was your fault. All things considered a very pleasant stay and I would certainly stay there again.

Room Tip: Request end of hall with 'lake view'...maybe a bit more but worth it.

3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 18, 2012

The hotel was clean. The bedding comfortable. We were awarded with a fridge and microwave in our room. They had all the plush new pillows and bedding. They had a great serving area for breakfast that we were able to utilize as a large group to have dinner together that we brought in and it sat all 35 of us comfortably. Though we did take of the entire area so if someone wanted to come and sit while we were having dinner would have been uncomfortable for them. But we did use it, cleaned up and moved on so we didn't dominate the space for to long.

What we found issues with was the staff that were less accomodating and friendly. We have stayed at many Marriott owned properties and this is the first time we received a flat "No" and blank serious stare when we asked if they would be willing to start their morning breakfast early on a Saturday morning. We had to be out of the hotel by 630a, breakfast started at 7am. We were in the hotel with three other teams (of various sports) so we figured that there was were plenty of people for them to consider the request. Also, there hasn't been a Marriott property that has ever said no, so were very surprised that they did say no.

When we got back to the hotel at 930a, the breakfast was well picked through. There were crumbs everywhere. The tables were dirty. The coffee was one cup from being empty. And there was nothing to chose from but two cereals and waffle batter. It had looked like they had served a pack of wolves and no personal to clean up after the pack. It was dissapointing at best.

Sunday morning we woke with time to have breakfast and was surprised the lack of offering they had. They had a place for donuts but there wasnt a single donut. The hostess did bring 6 donuts once we were there for about 15 minutes (mind you there were about 20 or more people eating). They sliced and served their bagels in half but it was offered as if you couldn't have a whole bagel as well as their english muffins.

They offered oatmeal with only a single, measured 1/2 cup of brown sugar, raisins and nuts. But this size of bowls they offered the extras in made it feel as if you should use only a small teaspoon so their would be enough for all.

In all the food appeared as if the hotel wasn't making money and trying to stretch the food budget would help. So slice the bagel and wrap them individually or stack them so they only get one half. Put out only a handful of butter, peanut butters and jellies so people won't just use wastefully. The cereal dispensors held maybe 3 bowls woth of ceral, but the staff wasn't quick to replenish any of the food and when they did they was smaller porportions then what they orginally placed.

I wouldn't stay again just because most of the staff was unfriendly (no smiles), unwilling to open their breakfast early (and every other property, when asked, was glad to help). The eating area wasn't maintained well or kept clean. There are MANY other hotels in the area that we can use the next time we are in town.

The hotel, is off the highway. I enjoyed the hum of the traffic, but if you like it quiet, this isn't the hotel for you. I loved that they had MANY restaurant choices, Super Target, just about anything you desired was with-in a few blocks.

Was a very modern hotel. We stopped here on our way home from Texas. Being tired and ready to crash . we jsut stayed in to relax, was very concerned about the freeway noise which is just outside the door. Then we came across train noise just accross the freeway, we were very concerned we wouldn't get any steep but it didn't effect our sleep at all. The hotel was very clean and comfortable. The breakfast nook was great, there was even a staff member there to help or find what you needed. Never made it to the pool but it was full when we went past it. I would recomened this place only to those who are not light sleeper because of the traffic noise.

The front desk staff Saturday morning 30th of June was awesome . They made our family feel right at home . I have not stayed at a hotel that I felt like the staff was my family but this hotel staff went above and beyond what we expected. The lady at the front desk Jane said good morning to us all and asked if we any special plans for our trip to Olathe. We said we had a wedding but wanted to find some other activities while we waited . Her knowledge of the area is wonderful and I wish we could have hired her to be our tour guide . I Thanked her and I will make sure I pass this on to Marriott as well . The Management on duty was very very nice and helpful as well . We will make sure to tell our friends and family that the Olathe Fair field inn is Home away from Home

Room Tip: Rooms on Back side are quiet but all rooms are great

We originally planned to stay here for a week due to a move, but one night was plenty. I would be hard pressed to believe that this property has recently had their rooms renovated. The first room we were assigned was a decent size, but the TV was not working. When we called down to the desk, rather than coming to check out the problem, the front desk clerk was quick to say that he would move us. I guess it was because he was alone, but every traveler knows what a hassle it is to move once you've settled in. Nevertheless, we packed up and trotted over to our new room, which was a huge disappointment. Way smaller than the first room and hot! Since it was late, we decided to suffer until the air conditioning kicked in. Big mistake. The air just didn't want to come out of the air conditioner and when I pulled the air filter out to see if that was the problem, I quickly discovered what an air filter such as this looks like when it hasn't been cleaned in years! I'm sure Marriott must have standards as to how often these filters should be cleaned, or at the very least the housekeeping staff should realize that there is a problem with airflow. Between the dust now circulating the room and the lack of cool air, it was a miserable night. Make sure when you see or hear 'newly renovated' that it isn't just the lobby that's been completed. Call the hotel directly and ask if the rooms have been renovated, too. Hotels don't always do them both at the same time.
