“Excellent quality at affordable price”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 9, 2012

Stayed at the Surf Motel in Marysville for five nights. Room was exceptionally clean, staff was very friendly, and check-in was a breeze. The free continental breakfast was very satisfactory. Very large room with a bathroom with a separate area from the shower and stool which was very convenient. Probably the better motel in Marysville. A Walmart is very close by, there are is a very good Mexican restaurant close by, a good American restaurant downtown - the Wagon Wheel, a couple of oriental restaurants and some fast food restaurants. A bowling alley is being remodeled right next door.

Room Tip: There is no pool nor restaurant. There are some close by.

This place was clean and convenient for a place to take a break while traveling. My wife and I travel from Indianapolis to Denver about 4 times a year and this area is about a half way point so a good area to spend the night. They did welcome our little dog . The staff people were not friendly at all but I believe it was more of a language barrier than anything else.

Stayed here one night on a road trip following the Oregan Trail, just a few minutes out of town on the main road. Rooms were big and clean, with a bathroom and separate wash basin. The motel is just down the road from a Walmart and Marysville has an old Pony Express Station with a monument to the riders.

When i arrived I asked to see a room, which is my sop if I'm in doubt. Didnt look that bad so I asked for 3 adjacent rooms for my group. Upon opening them up to turn heat on, one room had white powder all over everything and the container on the dresser labeled "Bed Bug Killer' on it!! Returning to the office to ask for my money back, the man seemed surprised to say the least.

We used their conference room and they wanted us to be out before we were done and even before the time we agreed. We have already booked one of their rooms and the following day they said the check out time is 9:00 AM instead if 11:00 AM. We can not believed how inconsistent they were on their services. I feel so bad that I can not recommend to my friends what we have in our town. Very disappointing!

As per the reviews here on Trip Advisor, we chose this hotel over The Oak Tree Inn. There are't a lot of choices, and this is definitely an older hotel which shows it's years - BUT - being a very small town, there aren't any brand name options anyway.

Come to find out this was a Best Western and the owners say they haven't changed a thing. The beds were super comfy, the soaps & shampoo bottles were offered and they had a breakfast, which we didn't take advantage of because we slept late in the comfy beds.

We arrived after a 9 hour drive late in the evening, and they were graciously waiting for us. We were shown where to park our 40' fifth-wheel and felt completely safe. The Hardee's across the street had great biscuits late in the morning.

The room was spacious - more so than many of the brand names we usually stay in. The furniture is dated and worn, but clean. The beds - again, were SUPER comfy, which for me is 50% of a suitable room. If the beds and linens are not really comfortable, we move on.

Had we known how NOT suitable our KC room was going to be, we would've stayed another day and done more research before checking out.

Although we have traveled through Marysville many times, we usually stay in Blue Rapids. However, this time we had a small puppy with us, so due to our friend's allergies, we needed to rent a room in Marysville. We stopped in the Surf and we met BJ, the owner/manager. We visited a bit, and he said that he would be willing for us to have our pet with us in the room, so we were greatly relieved! There were a few other choices of motels/hotels in town, but we were so impressed with BJ that we elected to stay at the Surf without even visiting the other options. We were very pleased with our stay! The entire motel has been repainted and has new carpet. The rooms certainly met our needs. All of the amenities that you might expect in a much larger (and much more expensive!) motel/hotel were there: room refrigerator, microwave, TV with remote, iron, hair dryer, hanger space, clothes storage, daily shampoos and soaps, wifi internet connection (free!), AC worked great and was very easy to use, ice machine which happened to be next door (really convenient in the near 100 degree temps), breakfast with pastries, biscuits and gravy, packaged waffles, juice, and some other items, certainly enough to get you started. The hotel staff were very pleasant. At least some were family members. They all worked hard to offer clean rooms with everything working. We discovered that one of the outlets wasn't working and called BJ. He came down immediately (very late in the evening after we checked in!) and took care of it. Had it working in a matter of a few minutes. He was very professional and friendly. We told our family and friends about our experience and highly recommended that they pass the word along to other members who might be coming in from out of town for the family reunion. All told, it was a very pleasant experience from very nice people. We highly recommend that you consider the Marysville Surf Motel for your next visit to Marysville, Blue Rapids, or the vicinity. We will! Pamela and Rob :)

Room Tip: You can park in front of the exterior rooms!
