“fun for a fall outing”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 24, 2012

we enjoyed our trip to the cider mill and pumpkin patch. it was fun to watch the cider being made and bottled. the pumpkin patch/corn maze and other activities are a bit pricey ($8 per person over 3), but the kids enjoy it and the grownups liked the music (kudos to the pheasant pluckers!). so maybe bring a picnic and plan to stay a few hours.

“Pumpkin patch is not worth the price of admission”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 24, 2012

The cider mill is a pleasant excursion for families in the fall, but skip the pumpkin patch.
The mill is free, but there's not a whole lot to see -- just some machinery smashing apples and moving the pulp. It's a cool side trip if you're on the way to somewhere else, but don't expect to kill more than an hour or so here. The cider is delicious, and the apple fritter donuts are pretty special. The apples are trucked in, sadly. It would be a lot cooler if they had an orchard.
The pumpkin patch, which is open in the fall, is a giant rip off. They charge $8, and there's just not enough for the price. There are a few playground-type pieces, a hayrack ride that takes you to the actual patch where you can pick a pumpkin (extra cost), and that's about it. There's also a very large corn maze. In a typical year, it's probably cool, but after this year's horrible drought, the corn was not as tall as an elephant's eye. It was about knee-high.
The patch is not worth the price of admission.

“A nice little side trip”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 24, 2012

If you travel through Louisburg, you should definitely stop at their Cider Mill for a couple apple-cider donuts or a cup of hot cider. There's a viewing platform for the little ones so they can get a glimpse of how their donuts are made.

There's a variety of goods you can purchase: apple butter, jams, kettle corn, soy candles, etc. If you visit during the autumn months their pumpkin patch/corn maze/hay-bale maze are all open for your fun!!

The lines inside the store to make purchases can often seem rather long, but moves very quickly!

Needs more craft booths and some new ideas for kids activities. Maybe some live square dancers and music. The donuts were good.

“Great family fun!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 2, 2012

We always enjoy going to the Cider Mill as a family in the fall. The Cider can be seen how it is made along with the donuts when the view rooms are running in operation. There are a lot of items to purchase in the shop, the fresh cider donuts and Lost Trail drinks our our favorites. Lost Trail is a nice tasty drink on a hot day. We enjoy the warm apple cider in the fall on crisp cooler days. .
