I went in thinking it was an American kabob restaurant but upon walking in realized I was wrong. This is a Persian restaurant. Let me start off by saying, please don't let the decor deter you from trying this place out. This restaurant is not upscale but if it were, you would be paying more. There are booths lined up on both walls, and 2 rows of table and chairs in the middle of the restaurant, I'd say they can accomodate 70 people at one time, so not a big place. The walls are filled with middle eastern pictures. There is middle eastern music playing in the background. So the decor is not what I am accustomed to but this is not a place for decorating tips, it's a restaurant so my rating of 4 is for the food and service, not the decor. That being said, the food and service was great. There is no hostess, so we stood there not knowing what to do. We waited a couple of minutes and what turned out to be the owner cleared a table and waved us to our seats. Once seated we were instructed to go to the buffet, get a plate and work our way down the buffet. He asked what we wanted for drinks and they were brought out promptly by a waitress. After getting our food, he brought out a basket of flat bread with hummus. We tried a little of almost everything on the buffet, and everything was really good. We went back for seconds. The food was freshly cooked, hot and tasty. Visually the food doesn't look all that appealing but taste and satisfaction was a different story. It all tasted very good. The owner, Kamid, was busy taking care of customers. He went to each table and spoke to everyone and was very friendly and courteous. He had a good size lunch crowd during our visit. The buffet was continually being filled by staff. There was beef, chicken and lamb on the buffet. All tasted very good. Without asking, the waitress brought our check. The staff is very courtesous and quick. I would say this is a no frills restaurant. You pay to eat good food and prompt service. A welcome change from the ordinary chain restaurants. During our visit the cost of the buffet was $8 per person. Baklava was $1.95. When I return to Lenexa, KS, I will be eating at K C Grill N Kabob.
