I have an undying love for authentic cuisine. Authentic Asian food is so special that it can hardly be emulated by corporate food manufactures or restaurant franchises and other food chains so finding these little needles in a haystack is quiet exciting. This untraditional venue for an oriental market/restaurant is located in downtown and is easy to miss. The building and inside is not shiny and new and the restaurant is located in a room within the store. To the untrained eye the look of the somewhat shabby room would foreshadow an unpleasant meal, however it's these little dives that are the true champions of culturally, authentic food. One of my favorite dishes is the Be Beam Bop, a bed of rice with veggies on top such as radish root, sprouts, fern, lettuce or seaweed, carrots, etc with your choice of meat and an over-easy egg on top. I gave it a shot and ordered. Not only was it was amazing, but I went back the next day. They also have the hot-pot option and serve several sides of kimchi'ed veggies. It was so refreshing and delicious, I was simply blown away. I've haven’t tasted fresh, authentic Korean food since 2005 when I was in Washing D.C. I was giddy all day.
