“kc jazz orchestra”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 26, 2013

the christmas jazz event it great. This art deco theatre is top notch and provides the perfect venue for jazz and drinks. The seats are very comfortable and the dance floor was large enough for the crowd. It was fun watching the really great dancers with spats and gloves. It got us 'In the Mood" for the holidays.

“The old Red Dog”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 1, 2013

What a cool old building with a long history and memories. The beautiful hippie murals are still painted on the tall walls. The stage has hosted some epic shows. It was the original Red Dog Inn and home office and venue to Mid-Continent Booking Agency who started with the Fabulous Flippers and then devolped many more "horn bands" with catchy names and inter-changeable musicians that toured the "KOMA Radio Butt-Hole Curciut". The Kansas Music Hall of Fame uses Liberty Hall for their activites.

“Great films and beverages”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 27, 2013

This old building has character. And, the films are top rate: good foreign films, great independent offerings and timely documentaries. Ticket prices are modest. Admittedly, the seats are not the most comfortable and the sound quality could be improved - but, you don't have to pay exorbitant amounts for the simple pleasure of having a beer or glass of wine while enjoying a superb flick. (Hey, it's standard across much of Europe - but a relatively pricey rarity in the U.S.) Finally, Tuesday is a two-for-one deal - with the price of a single ticket already a deal.

“A wonderful old theater”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 25, 2013

This is the best place to see live music in Lawrence, Kansas. A classic old theater in the heart of downtown. It's also a film theater that runs mostly art and independent films. Drinks and snacks are reasonably priced, nothing like at commercial movie theaters, and you can even have a beer or latte to take to your seat. Treat yourself to any kind of a show at Liberty Hall.

“A great venue”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 31, 2013

Liberty Hall is the site of numerous historic concerts. The old timers will remember it as the Red Dog Inn, where bands like the Red Dogs, King Midas and the Mufflers, High John and White Clover, the predecessor to Kansas, played to overflow crowds. The 1912 Opera House was restored to its original glory in 1986 and now plays host to many live events and shows movies regularly. Liberty Hall is one of the only places in Kansas where you can have popcorn and a beer while watching avant garde movies.
