We like the US Space Program and on a recent month long trip to Southern US we first visited the Stennis Center in Mississippi where all rockets going into space are tested. We were on our way to the LBJ Space Center in Houston and enjoyed seeing the training for the International Space Station. In Houston we were told about the White Sands Center in Alamogorda, NM and , since we were going to New Mexico we visited it. A person there told us about the Cosmospere in Hutchinson, KS. We had never heard of it. Since we were going to Wichita we spent a night in Hutchinson and went to the Cosmosphere. This was a real surprise in that we learned so much about the early beginnings of rockets by the Germans and how, after the capture of Werner VonBraun and his team, the US space program progressed. The many exhibits on the German rocket program were so educational and unique. Seeing the Freedom 7 after its recovery and Apollo 13 were more history and memories for us. We live close to the Huntsville, AL center and have also visited Cape Canaveral several times but Cosmosphere is different than all of them. We only had a half day we could spend but we will go back to see more of it. Also, the IMAX theatre is different than any other IMAX we have seen in that it is shown on a dome. Too realistic! This is an educational and fun place and we are in our early 60's.
