I wish I had the opportunity to check Trip Advisor before leaving home in Colorado on a very short notice trip to Missouri on Mother's Day. It has taken me this long to write this review because I wrote to both Wyndham Resorts, the parent company, and when I didn't receive a reply to my very detailed complaint, I then wrote to Marriott. I didn't receive a reply from them either.

The highlights of my complaint was that after complaining about a room with a clicking thermostat and unbelievably, a rod in the mattress going cross ways, which I could actually encircle with my hand, we were moved to another room. I asked for a concession for having to change rooms, and I was given a 5% reduction which amounted to $3.

I then checked the price for the room on line and found it to be about $11 cheaper. I went to the desk to ask for that rate and I was told, "You can't get that rate coming in off the street." We exchanged views about that, but I decided not to check out and go to another motel, because my wife had already unpacked again and was in bed.

At a few minutes before midnight, we were awakened by a loud banging on our door. I shouted that the room was occupied, but the banging continued to the point that the door was partially opened, but the mechanical throw lock on the door prevented entry. The protruding hand started flicking the lights on and off. At the same time, I got a call from the front desk telling me I had to come to the desk and sign something before midnight. I refused, telling them I would do it in the morning.

The pounding started again and I got another call telling me we had to leave the hotel, or they were calling the police to evict me.

You can imagine the state of mind my wife was in and she was wondering why they wanted me to open the door. The police never came, but it was difficult to go back to sleep.

The next morning, I went to the front desk to sign whatever had to be signed and the clerk told me there was nothing for me to sign. In addition, I called the police to see if they had received a call and found out that they had not been called.

It is obvious to me, that this whole diversion was created by the manager and the desk clerk, to apparently get back at me for arguing about the rate.

You decide if this is the place you want to spend a night, but obviously we won't stay there again, and I'm avoiding staying at any Wyndham Resort properties in the future.
