“Birds still in the the sky, but no water in the area.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 5, 2013 via mobile

Plenty birds of prey. Great views if water was present I am sure more birds would be seen. About 14 species in about 40 mins. Was great in winter, want to go back in spring. Must stop by tge wetland center first. Get a map checklist and maybe a field guide.

“Low on water but still a good bet.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

Low on water due to low rains. Still had a good bird list. Be ready for the smell, it is a salt marsh with very low water level.

“Cheyenne Bottoms Trip”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 14, 2012

Access well maintained. Easy to navigate/drive. Enjoyed the preserved areas for wildlife. Nice place to have near some developed areas.

“The Bottoms are dry now because of the lack of rain but the birds still come to this area. Very beautiful fall viewing.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 7, 2012

This area around Hoisington and Great Bend are full of fall colors this time of year. A nice get away from the traffic of larger cities. Not far from other points of interest.

“WOW!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 23, 2012

If you like birds, you HAVE to come here. I could rant an rave for an hour about this place, as I can never get enough. Shorebirds, waterfowl, cranes, and every other water-loving species on the continent can be seen here if you try. Best nature attraction is Kansas, except maybe nearby Quivira NWR. This place is more more managed, and focuses more on waterbirds than Quivira.
