What a beautiful part of the world and what a fantastic find The Old Rectory Hoiday Cotages is! My husband and I and our dog Sasha have stayed here twice now the first stay was in Sam's Stable and the second time in the Old Pump House, both I have to say were quite different but incredibly comfortable and welcoming.
The Old Pump House is situated below the main building accessible down some stone steps and shares a courtyard with the Butlers Pantry. The rooms are large and the ammenities are great; dishwasher so no washing up, dvd, tv, maps and binoculars if you are avid walkers and there is also a massive collection of dvd's to choose from if you havent brought any.
Sam's Stable has a lovely woodburner that is very welcoming on the colder nights but as both cottages have central heating it is not always needed. On the stay here we also partook in the 'Dogs Dinner' break which meant that a lovely 2 course evening meal was cooked for us by Jeannie and delivered to our door at the time we chose for the 2 evenings that we stayed and sumptuous sausages, bacon and free range eggs where left in the fridge for the following mornings breakfast. A home made loaf, marmalade and ale from St Peter's Brewery down the road where also left in a little hamper which was greatly received by my husband!
All in all the service is great, the location is fantastic and the buildings are stunningly renovated. Many thanks Jeannie and Keith and we will all be back again I am sure.
