Description: Exquisite, Perfection, Tantalising, Heavenly, Divine........Just some of the many compliments we have received about the new dining experience that we offer at the newly refurbished "Cross Keys Hotel - Bar and Restaurant" in Nantgarw. Under the New Management of Christine and her family, the Cross Keys has been lovingly restored to new heights. A former 18th Century Tollgate on the old Merthyr to Cardiff road, the Cross Keys has risen like a Phoenix from the Ashes to become a Smart, Relaxed, and Unique Bar and Dining experience offering that something extra special. Warm vibrant colours and relaxed settings welcome every guest to The Cross Keys. Allow us to tease those tastebuds with fine quality dining, complimented by the excellent and wide range of drinks from our Bar to give you an experience that will leave you wanting to come back for more.

“What a change!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 22, 2012

The Cross Keys has had mixed fortune over the last few years, change of management, several tries to revive it, and a spell when it was closed. Now re-opened, new owners, a bit of a facelift, and great food! So many locals have recommended this place over the last few months, we gave it a try for Sunday Lunch and we were delighted with the whole experience. The interior is now clean and inviting, simply decorated and furnished, we had a warm welcome and good service from the start. The owner told us that everything is made in house, even the bread.
The menu was imaginative and delivered on quality, taste and presentation. I thought it was good value too for what is on offer. The staff were friendly and efficient.

I'm going to mention a couple of little things which let it down ever so slightly. We weren't shown to our table, it was pointed out to us from the bar - ok, but could be better. No one offered the wine list, I had to get up and ask. Finally, the owner, who is obviously the front of house, stationed herself at the bar area when she wasn't serving. From there, she has her back to most of the tables, which didn't look professional. However, all of the time she was dealing with customers I have to say she was cheery and informative. Tiny criticisms but the rest of the experience was so enjoyable, and I will definitely be back for lunch or dinner again. I really hope the place flourishes as there is little of this quality nearby.

“Excellent”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 18, 2012

We have been here many times and have never had a bad meal. The menu changes constantly with a wide range of choices, and top marks for the desserts which are heavenly. The best pastry I've tasted in some time. Plus all bread home made - last time we bought a loaf to take home - gorgeous. Good wine choice, and a couple of well kept ales. Service is excellent. Highly recommended. Getting busier now so worth booking at busy times - deserves to be a success!

“Really lovely”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 12, 2012

Second time here for lunch. The food has been excellent both times. All freshly prepared food and the menu changes accordingly. Plenty of options whether you eat meat fish or are vegetarian. The bread and butter pudding is the best ever, really custardy!

Spotlessly clean, welcoming atmosphere, friendly, yet efficient staff. Could not fault the food. Will definitely visit again.

“Amazing”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 28, 2012 via mobile

We have visited the Cross Keys for romantic meals and family occasions and have never been disappointed! The menu is constantly changing and the dishes produced with fresh local products are what you would expect in a Michelin starred restaurant. The service is exceptional with a wide choice of wines and a number of quality ales. We look forward to returning for quality food at reasonable prices.
