“A nice post with many museums and facilities”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 7, 2012

The Big Red One has lots of history to share. The old buildings and museums are great and the facilities offered are nice for military and retired military. As the Big Red One has built up here so has the amenities it offers to the military community on post. Worth a look see if passing through.

“Lots of historical stuff to see”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 30, 2012

The Cavalry Museum and the First Infantry Museum are both very nice museums- well laid out with professionally done displays and beautiful artifacts. The Custer House is also very nice and has its own entry on TripAdvisor. Just outside the gate of the base is a park with an atomic cannon at the top of a hill. It is up a steep trail but well worth the walk.

“Military Base with lots of history”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 19, 2012

I lived on Fort Riley for 2 years. There are lots of historical sites to see throughout the base. Fort Riley's rich history will leave you satisified if you visit the two museums and King's field house. Walk around in the old post area and you will get to see how the Soldiers lives back in the early 1900's...

“It's a base”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 29, 2012

We drove through on our way from Junction City to Manhattan. It is a military base with old buildings on it. Their used to be buffalo but they are gone now and that area is turned into a dog park. It's neat to see if you are into military life. However, be sure and bring your drivers license for you and any other adult in the car as they will have to see it for you to be allowed on base.
