I visited the Boot Hill Museum on 12/30/05. If you are into the 'wild west' and enjoy history from that time period, this place is for you! I spent three hours there and read every word of every board. The whole presentation is factual and not puffed up for the tourist crowd. As someone who has studied the wild west, both mythical and factual, it is refreshing to find an attraction that adheres strictly to the truth. When you have this good of a story, you do not need to embelish it!
The people working at the Museum and the people of Dodge City in general are quite friendly. You can tell that they take great pride in the history of their town.
Now, I feel compelled to tell you/warn you, that other than the Boot Hill Museum, Dodge City is pretty much a dry hole. The lesser attractions are not significant. Do not waste your time. Go through the Boot Hill Museum, take your time and enjoy. No need to rush. Once you have seen the Boot Hill Museum you have seen all that Dodge City has to offer.
