I visited the Boot Hill Museum on 12/30/05. If you are into the 'wild west' and enjoy history from that time period, this place is for you! I spent three hours there and read every word of every board. The whole presentation is factual and not puffed up for the tourist crowd. As someone who has studied the wild west, both mythical and factual, it is refreshing to find an attraction that adheres strictly to the truth. When you have this good of a story, you do not need to embelish it!

The people working at the Museum and the people of Dodge City in general are quite friendly. You can tell that they take great pride in the history of their town.

Now, I feel compelled to tell you/warn you,that other than the Boot Hill Museum, Dodge City is pretty much a dry hole. The lesser attractions are not significant. Do not waste your time. Go through the Boot Hill Museum, take your time and enjoy. No need to rush. Once you have seen the Boot Hill Museum you have seen all that Dodge City has to offer.

It's not really worth driving down there for. A long way off I-70...we had heard about Boot Hill for years, our families had stopped there in the '60's and '70's on cross country trips and always talked about what a good time they had. It's very small, perhaps a 1/2 block, and you can see it in about an hour. However, in the present day, it does not compare to even a substandard amusement park. It's also worth mentioning that all the buildings are recreations built in the 1950's, the only original stuff is the displays in the museum. They also don't mention that there are no shows or gunfights after Labor Day, so there's really no purpose to go there. We were very disappointed. It was a waste of time.

My Family and i Have been to Boot hill 2 times. The Museum and shop are really neat, but the best thing Boot hill has going for it is the Shows. The best being the CAN CAN show. My kids liked it so much they want to move there where they can work there. Set close and enjoy your trip.

I was expecting so much more from the web site of Boothills Museum. Pictures can play tricks on our eyes. It was interesting but you would only need about 1 to 1 1/2 hours to go through it. It is the size of 1/2 a block and thats about all there is. Very misleading.
