“Worst New Years Eve party”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 3, 2014

Mi wife and I took the New Years eve party deal, and had a great disappointment, the music was great, but the atmosphere was terrible, no decoration at all, just some white saving energy bulbs, witch made the place look like a funeral parlor. Before midnight they server some grapes with half spoil, serve what they call Champagne some disgusting beverage witch tasted like soap. The plate was far form great. Worst party ever.
The Bungalows with a very poor decoration and a strong smell of humidity, the refrigerator show rust ll over, the shower head had most of the holes kluged up, and it is electric and not grounded so expect Little shocks of electricity if you touche it. I was in need of some cold medicine, they do not have a small store with basic item, luckily one of the room service personnel made a run to the near town and save the day.
During the night it was so boring, not even the main pool was illuminated, they offer no amenities and the drinks are extremely expensive, for a local beer $3.00 else where $1.75.
Over all good place to spend the day with family, beach is was the best!!

Being an American and married to an El Salvadorian, this wasn't my first time to El Salvador. I knew what to expect already. This is not a beach resort by my standards, as I have traveled to Cancun and Punta Cana. For El Salvador, it's very nice. The staff was pleasant. One thing: they really should teach some of their staff to speak some english. My husband did translate everything for me, but I and other Americans would feel a little more at ease with some more English available to us. The food was great. We had typical El Salvadorian food as well as hamburgers, salad, pancakes etc. The rooms were clean and we did have somewhat of hot water. I also spent the night at my inlaws who have NO hot water at all, so the somewhat hot water was great. It was nice to see the parrots, monkeys and alligator on the property. The pools were very nice as well. They should really have some kind of entertainment! Music, dancers, maybe some vendors selling typical El Salvadorian things. Overall, we would stay there again!

Room Tip: Rooms to the back of the property are quieter!

For the price that they charge is not worth it! very limited menu, food not that great. the staff was pleasant, the bungalows are hot in the evening no ac. only in the bedrooms. I wouldn't go back and I advise you not to go there.

I just stayed here overnight prior to departing back to the U.S. -- my experience was not at all unpleasant.

We were in a Bungalow 21 -right by the ocean. You could hear the waves crashing. Our bungalow patio had hammock's and was semi-private as it is blocked by palm tree's and plant life (at least the back bungalow's were) It was amazing laying in a hammock listening to the waves with no foot traffic going by. One con, although we never used it; was our fridge smelt awful! The AC works like your in alaska -- wonderful if you love it cold. Beware of the shower heads -- there is a warning to turn the water OFF prior to switching the speed of the water- they have electric heated shower heads. Dangerous but you'll get a good shock from it.

The food was great! I had no issues with it. There were $3 beer's and $6 margarita's! Unfortunatly; the bar area near the ocean had one bartender. It wasn't exactly a crowed hotel; but enough people where there you had to "wait" your turn for your margarita to be made. Plus side? They are VERY STRONG!

Bunch of chair's and tables looking out in to the ocean with Plam's as shade. It was beautiful. Kids pool was located there also. Beach had massive undertow so it was not "swimming" material but great for walking along the water's edge!

There was also a pool & poolside bar on the main area of the hotel. Very nice. Pool was a tad "warm" but with the climate the way it is there; it was expected. Very friendly staff.

They have monkeys, parrots (one that says HOLA) and a crockodile. I feel for the crock as he had limited space to really be able to "swim" -- cages where cleaned and wish they were a bit bigger although monkey's had plenty of room. In the evening and early AM you can see little iguana looking creatures on the walls of the check-in aread.

They had a basketball court (rent a ball for $5) - a tennis court, a gym, a spa, etc.

Overall; i would def return here for a relaxing vacation. there is no "nightlife" etc so unless you plan on drinking away, relaxing by a pool or in your hammock, and taking long walks on the beach- this won't be for you.

There is a long dirt road to get there - passing local's and thier living conditions (sad to see)* Security is tight to get in and they make sure that your on the list you get in so its safe feeling-- if you leave in early AM beware of the cow's -- the local's herd them down to their destination and they tend to walk in the middle of the road so you more or less have to wait until they can be directed out of your way. (this happened 2 times to us)

Room Tip: Loved Bungalow 21. It had 2 beds; AC was cold, great semi-private patio - could hear the ocean waves...

More remote than Rancho Estoyo y Mar, this resort is clean and comfy and remote. It is a great place to kick back and enjoy the pleasures of doing nothing or very little. The beach is great for walks or wading. The staff is pleasant and professional. Watch out for the electric heated shower heads or you may get an unpleasant zap.

I was very pleasantly surprised by this hotel. It has a lot of the "old" and nice El Salvador in it. They take care of the hotel quite nicely. Nice walk ways lined with palm trees pretty greenery. The monkeys, alligator, and Guaras make it more fun. Fully equiped with nice swimming pool, tennis, basketball, soccer and beach volley ball courts. Great restaurant with included meals. The beach although maybe not El Salvador's best but is very picturesque. Great friendly staff. Don't let the road to the hotel scare you once you are in the hotel its a totally different experience. Very pretty, and quiet.

A colleague and I stayed in this place over a weekend during a business trip. Although cheap, this place is probably the worst beach "resort" I have ever been to. The beach is dirty and not appropriate for swimming because there is a river coming into the ocean nearby. The water from the tap smells bad, the cleaning personnel leave the door open and there are mosquitoes in your room at night. The mini zoo is a joke; and really those poor animals are suffering. This should be closed immediately and the animals sent to some rescue place. The food is not good as it is cheaply made and the "all inclusive package" has a very limited food menu and excludes drinks of any kind. Although close to the airport, the hotel is located in a very remote area and getting in and out is difficult and expensive. The only positive for me was a great massage I got at their little spa/gym. In summary, you are better off finding another place.
