The Black Lion has recently re-opened after lying practically derelict for several years. It has a large car park to the rear of the property where the majority of its refurbishment is more obvious, which is unfortunate, because, as you approach it from the main road, it isn't very imposing.
We called in for a Sunday roast and the internal surroundings are very impressive, with slate floors and furnishings that are traditional and varied. The lunchtime menu was comprehensive and we chose the roast beef lunch, which was served promptly by very pleasant staff, the portions were generous and piping hot. There is a limited sweets menu which were again served promptly. If you want good food, served in an efficient and pleasant manner in convivial surroundings, you should certainly give The Black Lion a visit.
