“Best Carvery by far”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 12, 2014

The meats provided are simply superb, in taste, quality of cooking, and range. You get Turkey, beef, pork and now lamb, all with a fully risen yorkshire pudding. For the money it is awesome value, and shows with the big queues ( easily seated ) and the need to book at peak times.

To get a higher rating I would like to see better roast potatoes - which are the corner stone of a Sunday Roast - these are a little solid throughout and not crispy enough on the outside. A par boiled potatoe once roasted is soft and fluffy in the inside and crisp on the outside which these are not - ideally a little like a lindt lindor chocolate. Sometimes some of the vegetables are over cooked too. However, all said it is great value and the meats are cooked perfectly. We are regular visitors and its justifiably busy

“PLOUGH & HARROWING”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed March 12, 2014

Actually intended visiting a little country pub/restaurant about a mile or so from this place but they were fully booked so went here instead - The steak was very good although some of the accompanying veg were not. The wine list is, in my view a trifle overpriced by most pub restaurant standards. I was quite annoyed when I asked a passing waiter for a little extra bread to finish off my prawns in garlic cream (starter) and he returned to the table and informed me that if I wanted another piece of bread I would have to pay for it! I would not recommend this place at all!

“Sunday Lunch”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 11, 2014

Great place to go for a carvery. Excellent choice of vegetables 14 in all. Four different meats. Friendly staff. Plenty of parking although it was a bit tight on the Sunday lunch time

“Don'T go on a Sunday”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed March 3, 2014

What an experience. When we booked we were told that we only had our table for two hours. As it turned out we were unable to put up with it for that long. We arrived at about 5pm on a Sunday, we were aware that families would be there and never expected a problem BUT why do parents just let their children run around the restaurant bothering everyone but them, they are oblivious. Kids will be kids but some people just want to eat without having other peoples children rolling around the floor shouting and screaming next to them with the sound of an adults voice, 'behave or you will go in the car!' constantly repeated
Even worse we witnessed one young female member of staff attempting to wipe tables that were filthy. 5 tables wiped with one cloth that had not been rinsed during the process, no surface cleanser used either, re-laid and ready for the next unsuspecting customer dreadful!

“Terrible Service”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed March 2, 2014

Have eaten here on several occasions. service is always poor. Never enough people on the bar and nowhere near enough waiting staff. Booked table of 15. Plenty of advance notice (7 days). No one came to take our order so guest had to write orders and hand to staff. Meals came out in decent enough time however 2 guests had to send their food back. One had asked for no mayonnaise on burger and the burger came out full of mayonnaise. One meal had to be sent back as steak was dry as a bone. Must have been on hot plate for ages. Another meal was forgotten about and, although they tried their best to replace, every other guest had finished their meal and was about to pick puddings when the replacement meal came out. The place is always packed so they should be able to put adequate staff on. However, I wonder if that is how they keep their prices down? Cut down on staff? Will go again but will be prepared this time for rubbish service.
