“Bad Bed”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 21, 2012

My wife, baby son and I stayed at this hotel last Saturday night. It is located in a very attractive area for shopping, dining and entertainment. It is on a footpath surrounding a pond and several nice restaurants, adjacent to the Jordan Creek mall. The mall itself is upscale, comfortable and worth a visit if you like to shop. During our stay, we had two requests for the front desk: one for a crib and another for extra bath towels. In both cases, the staff delivered what we needed to our room within five minutes. This is the third Residence Inn I have stayed at, and I enjoy this brand for its spacious rooms, full kitchen amenities and breakfast. However, as in my previous two stays, the bed was extremely worn out and uncomfortable—it sagged in the middle. I was exhausted so was able to sleep, but some people might be uncomfortable. Overall, great location, amenities and staff, but bad bed!

After driving for 4 days we were thrilled to have such a nice spacious place to unwind! The king bed was uncomfortable - worst on our 3 week road trip. There was a parking lot light that, at night made our room seem like daylight. This was the most frustrating: There was no "do not disturb" sign and "knock, knock, knock" at 9 a.m. Again before 10. I finally put a note outside our door that said "Do not disturb. We will check out at noon.". I heard some one come to the room again...they obviously read the note. Very disappointed - my husband is Marriott Gold level. We used points for our stay.

To be honest this was the best Hotel I have ever stayed in. They really make you feel at home. What I love most is the backyard! The pond and waterfall is so relaxing! Wonderful breaktfest and Dinner. It is right across the street from all the hot spots in West Des Moines, you dont even need to drive to get places. Nothing bad to say, met all my expectations! :)

We enjoy staying here and have done so several times since it opened. This is a relatively new property. The two-room suite was especially comfortable and clean. Great value for the price! Set up perfectly for long-term stays although ours was an overnighter. :) We didn't spend much time at the hotel as we were busy entertaining close by at Prairie Meadows Horse Race Track and Johnny's Italian Restuarant. We thought of walking over to Champ's for drinks at Jordan Creek but it was getting too late. Fun place to be with lots of entertainment venues within walking distance.

Room Tip: The hotel seemed to be quiet. It was a Tuesday evening, however, the eve of Fourth of July. We wer...

I love staying at a Residence Inn and this hotel was wonderful. The 2 bedroom suite--junior apartment was fabulous. Had a fireplace, kitchen and 2 bathrooms. Plenty of space for a family with teenagers. Worth the price--instead of getting two rooms. The Jordan Creek area had a lovely Town Center, plenty of restaurants and the nearby Target was beautiful. Highly recommend this hotel!

Room Tip: Highly recommend the King or Queen 2 bedroom suite.

Awesome place to stay. Offers a great warm continental breakfast. Beautiful surroundings with an outdoor gazebo and a pond. Also has an outdoor basketball court/tennis court. This will be our choice hotels anytime we are in the Des Moines area.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 29, 2012

My husband surprised me by getting a 2-bedroom suite for our weekend trip with his youngest daughter. It was great because we had our own personal space, as did she, and didn't have to sit on the bed when eating pizza or watching TV. We were able to have more of his family over to the hotel because our room had a kitchenette and living room. I felt at home in this hotel (I know, sounds weird), and have told my husband that he's officially spoiled me.
It was cold in the hotel on a 90+ degree weekend. Our room was set to 60 degrees and I heard another guest tell someone "welcome to the iceberg". So if you're sensitive to cold, it might not be the best place for you. The pool was small, but we didn't go swimming.
Our suite was only $10-20 more than the standard 2-queen bed rooms in the area. Very well worth the cost of $160/night.
Location: Right next to the Jordon Creek mall area. Within walking distance to the mall, a couple of strip malls, Joe's Crab Shack, On the Border, Cheesecake Factory, etc etc etc.
