I took my kids ages 11& 15 and they each took a friend while my husband was in Canada. We are from the Quad Cities so it was a 2 hour drive so we spent the night before and went to the water park the next morning. We all had a BLAST there are so many different things to do for such little $. We brought our own food and ate on the grass next to the parking lot but I looked at the food prices and it was very reasonable. We will defiantly be back next year maybe we will even take dad with us!!!!

Yesterday we went to Lost Island Waterpark for the first time since we have moved to Iowa. Being originally from the East Coast, I tend to judge things quite harshly but I am happy to say it was an awesome
day. The park was priced expensive which concerned me but after being
there I can understand why. Parking is free which you never find. The
park was immaculate, no exaggeration. The lifeguards were numerous and happy, they were so happy, except for two ...they loved their jobs. The rides were fun, lines moved fast even though it was crowded. The lifeguards made sure all safety rules were followed. It was a great time.

A couple of negatives- Paying 50 cents everytime you need to get into
your locker was inconvenient especially with small children. They should have larger lockers for families and a one time fee, for example 5 dollars a day. Definitely plan ahead for that. Another was that on the Lazy River, kids were running through and congesting it. This ride was advertised for adults who went to lounge but it wasn't fast enough for the kids fast paced world. The lifeguards should have
controlled that. My daughter and I were flipped over and thrown up against the wall. That was not pleasant.

Other than that, What an awesome day we had. The food was priced great and delicious, the water was super clean, the no bugs was a pleasant surprise...What a great trip within our state. Definitely we will go again.

First when we parked, we did not have to pay for parking. I though for sure we would have to pay something. We got there about 1:00, and parking still was easy. The slides were great. The park was really clean. I was very impressed. The staff was a lot of fun. They would splash you with water while you were waiting in line to get on a slide. Some of the lines took for ever, but as expected on a hot Iowa day. The food was very well priced, we had 2 cheeseburgers, 2 fries and 2 large pops for $12 not bad at all, they grill the food right behind the stands so it fresh. The park does allow re-entry so some people had brought there lunch and had a picnic. Over all this water park is one of the best I have ever been to. I can not wait to go back

My wife and I just visited Lost Island July 8, 2005. We have been to other large national waterparks and were skeptical about even trying Lost Island. The waterpark doesn't have the number of slides that other larger midwestern parks have, but I am so glad we gave it a chance. There is enough here to keep kids/adults of all ages happy for the day. There is ample close-in parking. Plenty of seating close to the wave pool, which is very nice for this size of park. The Lazy River has enough length and current. The tube slides actually surprised us in terms of speed, very nice. The body slides could have more zip, but they were still nice. The staff was very attentive as to what was happening around them and very friendly. The food in the park was reasonably priced. There is a large shopping center not far from the park that has anything you want for dining before/after. You can exit and come back to the park, so many people have picnic's in their vans etc.

Everything is in pretty close proximity, so you don't really have to walk around forever. People tend to grab lounge chairs near the wave pool immediately and reserve them with their towels, so you might want to get there early if that is where you want to congregate for the day. If you can't get away to the larger waterparks, I'd definitely give this park a chance if you live in Iowa.
