Recently refurbished and under new management. Staff are very friendly and welcoming. Eaten here twice now and it's been great both times.
First time we had the rib-eye steaks from the bar menu. Tasty meat, cooked correctly and great trimmings. On top of that, very reasonably priced.
Our second meal was from the full menu. The starters were delicious. For the mains, we had the pork belly and the sea bass. Both were perfect; I especially liked my pork belly, which was juicy without having a thick layer of fat. No room for desserts!
Given that it's a small village, it's inevitable that it'll be compared with the Inn up the road. I can't comment on the Inn's food as I last ate there two years ago. However, as a pub, the White Hart stands head and shoulders above the Inn. Period timbers, fireplace (with a lovely log fire). Perhaps most importantly, there's actually a dedicated pub area rather than being squashed in the corner as you are in the Inn.
So, a strong start and our new favourite local restaurant.
