This is most definitely one of the best places we have stayed in. Julian and Nigel are excellent hosts - there when you need them. We didn't have dinner with them but having read so many positive reviews of their food, wish we had. Cocktails were scrummy though - thank you!
We stayed a week in Beau and one in Neuf. Even though there are 3 houses, you would never know as there is so much space (well-tended) that you can enjoy privacy all day.
Beau is the most beautiful house; the views from the arched window are spectacular and an excellent spot to watch the occasional storms. The house was immaculate, the showers good and the beds comfortable. Coffee on the terrace every morning watching the sunrise was very relaxing, with uninterrupted views across the fields. The kitchen was well equipped and the fridge is a great size, so you can keep all the drinks chilled.
Neuf is a larger house than Beau and is also fabulous. The bedrooms are larger with areas for seating too. Our two 15 year olds were delighted to have space to chill out and be able to watch a DVD from the extensive collection when it was too warm outdoors. The views from the master bedroom to the foothills of the Pyrenees were stunning and a great place to sit, read and relax. Again the house was immaculate, showers good and beds very comfortable. The fridge is also a great size and the kitchen well equipped.
The private garden in Neuf is a suntrap from late morning – we enjoyed the sunrise on the patio to the front of the house. The environs are fabulous, the mulberry trees spectacular, plenty space for energetic children (of all ages) to play without disturbing others.
In both these houses there is enough space to hold a small ceilidh. The open plan ground floors are spacious and easy to keep tidy – there is nothing worse than feeling things are cluttered when you are on holiday.
The linen and towels are good quality. The washing machines and dishwashers make for an easy life. The swimming pool is fabulous and clean with a deep end that was greatly appreciated for diving and jumping. The robot that helps with the cleaning was fascinating. There are plenty of loungers and shade if you want or need it.
The surrounding area is beautiful and we would recommend Mirepoix on both market day and not. Foix is lovely and the baker (Mme Fleury) and butcher in Belpech have delicious produce. If you ask Julian and Nigel they will recommend many places to visit and things to do and even the local wines to buy in the Intermarche. There are many useful gems of information in the visitor books and the house handbooks are excellent.
We would return without any hesitation but would recommend you experience Loustalviel for yourself.
