Great Indoor Waterpark for kids

The rooms are clean and spacious. My kids loved the indoor water park, and we had a great time at the hotel. We ate dinner in the hotel's restaurant. It overlooks the lake and the food was great. They have a kid's menu, but it's a higher end restaurant - more suited for a date night than a casual family dinner.
My only complaint would have to be the elevators. They are very slow, and you may end up waiting several minutes to use them.

We just returned from two nights at Kings Pointe. We had a great time and thought the trip was a great value. I'm a hotel snob, so I am pretty hard to please. I thought the rooms were spacious, well designed and had very nice beds/linens. The bathroom is very large which is nice traveling with a family. We had the 2 queeen family suite overlooking the lake. I loved the balcony and was able to spend a few hours reading in the sun. The kitchette is nice too traveling with kids. It doesn't come with tableware and we ordered pizza so you would want to ask the delivery guy for plastic stuff. The two beds are separated by a partial wall and there are two tvs in the room. We were able to put kids to bed and stay up for cocktails which is always nice. Housekeeping came both days early which worked ok for us. The Regatta Grill was good with moderate prices. My husband and 3 kids had breakfast for $18 and all 5 of us had lunch for $25.00. We went into town for a great dinner. The city of Storm Lake has a lot to offer. The waterpark was a perfect size for our 8,6 and 3 year old. It has a zero entry pool, basketball, lilly pads, small lazy river, climbing wall and 3 big slides. During the summer, the indoor and outdoor pools are connected by the snackshop. Older teens might get bored but we thought it was fun. It wasn't busy at all so the kids went down the slides a ton. We are excited to go back this summer and be able to enjoy the outdoor waterpark and playground. I love that the resort is just feet from the water. According to the employees they have some great plans fo the summer! Will definately go back!!

We spent 2 nights at King's Pointe to celebrate New Years. I have 2 kids (11 & 7) who had a great time at the indoor water park. The tubing slides are especially awesome and from the looks of it the outdoor park will be great fun in the summer.

The staff were very accomodating and friendly. Food at the restaurant was good and reasonably priced. Rooms were clean and neat, although a little dark (I hate dark rooms). We had a shore level room so you could walk right out to the lake.

It was a great way to burn off some vacation energy - we'll be back in the summer!

The new Kings Pointe Resort is quite an acheivement - a $35 million resort featuring ballroom, conference facilities, spectacular lakefront views, and both indoor and outdoor water parks. We booked a room for the Buena Vista University homecoming weekend and were pleasantly surprised at the quality of the rooms, the facilities, and decor. Rooms featured a small sundeck and the lakeside rooms had great views. Construction is still ongoing around the property, but there was no noticeable noise during sleepy hours. Just a few minor bugs -- the cleaning service knocked on the door shortly after 8AM(!) so be sure to have that "Do Not Disturb" out the night before if you aren't an early riser. The indoor waterpark doesn't rival Wisconsin Dells, but it will put to shame most other Iowa water parks. There was ZERO waiting on the Friday evening when we went. Its three indoor slides should keep 5 to 12 year olds busy for a while, but teens will probably yawn after a half hour. Service in the Regatta grille is still being perfected, but I chalk it up to inexperience with a new facility and staff and hope bugs (such as waiting 20 minutes or more before being checked on by waitstaff) will be ironed out quickly. The lakeside view is good enough to make you overlook such issues but I am sure things will only get better. This fall should be a great time to visit if you don't like crowds. Plan your visit now word spreads about this great resort!
