My husband and I spent an overnight in Pella for our anniversary recently and decided to stay at the Royal Amsterdam Hotel because it looked unique. Granted, we stayed in mid-March when there's not much tourism in Pella so we got a good rate. Our king room was very roomy and clean, the bed comfortable, and the decor was attractive. There is a small refrigerator and an in-room coffee maker but we didn't use them. The other reviews about the room not being totally dark are correct - there are vertical blinds but they do let in a little light. For us this wasn't an issue because it was still reasonably dark and the streets are much quieter in small town Pella than they are in the city we come from. The hotel staff was very friendly and pleasant and offered conversation both when we checked in and checked out. The only downsides I saw were: 1) the wallpaper in our bath area - looked like someone had been a little rough on it and could stand to be replaced, and 2) the continental breakfast - coffee was pretty cool when we got there 1/2 hour before closing, and there wasn't a great deal of variety. We'd already picked up some awesome Dutch pastries the previous day and were planning on going to a coffee house for coffee on our way out of town, so it wasn't a big deal to us.
All in all I was very satisfied with the hotel and if we ever stay in Pella again and it's available at a similar rate, I would not hesitate to reserve a room at the Royal Amsterdam Hotel. I think it would be very pretty in summer with the canals running and everything lush and green.

I just wanted to let you know for your future stays that there are black out blinds behind the vertical blinds in every room. So, when both sets of blinds are pulled, it is quite dark in the rooms.
