Having stayed at this hotel in December 2002, we thought it would be fine to spend a night at the same hotel a few years later. We were off on that thought. The hotel rooms were clean and relatively comforable, but the upkeep of the hotel in general is poor and leaves you with that cautious feeling everywhere. Wallpaper peeling, railings in the pool area rusted out, carpet worn and dirty in hallways, etc. It appeared to us that there has been no maintenance over the past three years.

On the good side, the room was clean. However, the wallpaper was peeling in some areas, the metal supports for the cieling tiles in the bathroom were rusty, and the bathroom sink area did not have a door to separate it from the sleeping area. Staff was polite but scarce. There was no one around to replenish the breakfast supplies. I am sorry to say there is a great variation in the quality of Holiday Inn Express hotels but, regardless, they are all the same price. There is no way I can see anyone rating this hotel "above average."

Stayed over night February 2005. A quiet, clean, spacious room as requested on line. Friendly staff checked us in at 1 AM and out at 7AM. No hint of cigarette smoke. Comfortable bed, inexpensive, clean and quiet. Didn't eat breakfast, but it looked fine and the coffee was drinkable. Very convenient for avoiding Des Moines traffic in the morning, but only 20 minutes away. Perfect for the price. Would crash here again.

I was at this hotel for the weekend of October 22-24. Room very nice. Breakfast was quite good. Hotel became loud late Saturday night. Sounded like there was a party going on in the pool area. Other than that great time!
