On the good side, the room was clean. However, the wallpaper was peeling in some areas, the metal supports for the cieling tiles in the bathroom were rusty, and the bathroom sink area did not have a door to separate it from the sleeping area. Staff was polite but scarce. There was no one around to replenish the breakfast supplies. I am sorry to say there is a great variation in the quality of Holiday Inn Express hotels but, regardless, they are all the same price. There is no way I can see anyone rating this hotel "above average."

Stayed over night February 2005. A quiet, clean, spacious room as requested on line. Friendly staff checked us in at 1 AM and out at 7AM. No hint of cigarette smoke. Comfortable bed, inexpensive, clean and quiet. Didn't eat breakfast, but it looked fine and the coffee was drinkable. Very convenient for avoiding Des Moines traffic in the morning, but only 20 minutes away. Perfect for the price. Would crash here again.

I was at this hotel for the weekend of October 22-24. Room very nice. Breakfast was quite good. Hotel became loud late Saturday night. Sounded like there was a party going on in the pool area. Other than that great time!

We stayed at this hotel because of experiences with other Holiday Inn Express hotels, but we found that there are often obvious differences within hotel chains.
This hotel was in the process of being cleaned throughout the facility when we checked in around 4pm. We found garbage bags and boxes piled in the hallways and supplies strewn about the breakfast lobby area. One box of cups was left laying on the floor in the walkway of the coffee bar area from the time that we checked in until past 11 pm. A laundry cart of towels was also left in the breakfast area in the evening with towels spread around the different tables. We got to view laundry and custodial areas for many hours because the doors were left propped open. Not the best views to give guests.
The pool area was nice enough, and there was an attached outdoor deck to use.
The vending machines were not stocked to maintain complete products as they offered.
The breakfast offering was the same basic menu as all Holiday Inn Express hotels, but it was not outstanding in any way.
Staying in this hotel was like staying in a house where no one had the time to clean and organize properly.
The staff was in a state of utter urgency for some task that did not seem apparent, and they were not the most polite or helpful.
I would stay here again only if it was the only option.
