“Our Style of Camping”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 1, 2013

This was our 2nd stay at this property and our experience was pretty much as expected. We booked the family suite which we spent a bit more time in due to the cooler than expected weather. The only complaint we had was the very slow service at the restaurant. We were actually given a free meal when they lost our order ticket. We had a wonderful and relaxing time as a couple.

Room Tip: Try to book one of the package deals. We received free bike rental and a room discount.

We recently enjoyed a family reunion at this resort. Each family had their own cabin. The cabins were very nice but I recommend bringing your own baking pans since they were only equipped with pots and pans, plates silverware etc. The complementary kayak class was a lot of fun but the water park is definitely for little ones. Two suggestions I have is the front desk needs to be a little more friendly and they need to find a better vendor for boat rentals. A family member questioned why his rental didn't have a gas cap and was told it was no big deal. The boat stalled 10 minutes later and they were stuck out in the water for an hour in blistering heat.

Room Tip: Ask for a lake view room

Decided on this hotel for a short wedding anniversay trip. We went with the romance package. Extra price for the package not worth it. King suite nice but lacking (no mini fridge, in room temp control locked), room service delivery of low quality gift shop box of chocolates and candle along with champagne. Breakfast for two pretty standard. Food in general was ok, but nothing special. Best part of the resort for us is the proximity to boat/ jet ski rentals/ Rathbun Lake.

The prices including taxes and fees are outrageous! Reservation confirmation was made after we left on our trip not by email 1 month before. Restaurant service was atrocious; we waited an hour for a seat in a restaurant with empty tables. Guess we were up a creek because there are no other restaurants close by. Food was good but overpriced. Beautiful setting but overpriced with lousy service.

Stayed at Honey Creek resort with friends for a weekend getaway. We stayed in the lodge, played golf, ate in the restaurant and rented a boat from the adjacent marina. All in all, we had a great time, and think that this has the potential to be a top-notch destination.
Pros- the facility is lovely; the rooms were comfortable, and the food was quite good. The golf course was challenging, but enjoyable for a group of novices. We really enjoyed our time on the lake. In general, the staff was nice.

Cons-in general, we thought they needed to discover the service side of the hospitality industry. For the price, they missed a lot of details. the person who booked our rooms, found the process to be overly complicated, and the reservations personnel were not particularly helpful. Upon check-in, the staff was not very friendly or helpful. The staff in the dining room seemed to be disorganized, and service was slow. We found the same lack of organization at the clubhouse. The shower had extremely low pressure, the closet rod was very high off the ground, the towels were thin, and there was no lotion in the rooms.

Another indication that they are out of touch with hospitality is that there was no address or directions on how to find them on their website.

In spite of this, we would recommend this facility for adults and children.

This is a great place to bring a family. The resort is super clean, and there are tons of activities to keep you busy. Only complaint is the restaurant. Breakfast served is great, the dinner food has been a dissappointment. Don't let that stop you though. There is a gas grill located at the pavillion by the park. Bring your own food to grill and enjoy a great view of the lake. The park is close enough for the kids to play while you cook the food.

The workers at the resort were very friendly. The atmosphere, water play area and surroundings were very nice. I didn't get to play the golf course, but it looked very nice also. I would recommend this hotel. There are also cabins to rent and a lake to fish on.
