“Gorgeous View and Fun Hike”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 24, 2013

If you're near the Prairie du Chien area, Pikes Peak State Park is a must see! The view of the Mississippi is absolutely stunning. Take lots of pictures up here!
There are also some hiking trails into the woods worth exploring as there are some Native American mounds and natural formations. There are some longer trails, but we only explored the shorter ones. The hiking isn't too intensive so it shouldn't be difficult for most people. The trails are not paved though so they're not accessible for everyone.

“Cold Showers, Close Campsites, Confusing Setup”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 18, 2013

We took a long trip with our two dogs and rv from Michigan to Wyoming and back. This campground was average based on where we had stayed for the rest of the trip. The showers were cold and not very well cleaned- there was an industrial sized fan on to dry up the water that had been sloshed all over, which when it is cold out and the water is cold was not the best situation. The campsites are very close together and it was noisy as it was leading up to a holiday weekend. They required a three night stay because of the holiday so we booked three days with the intention of only staying two nights. The area around here is not very interesting but we came for the National Park in the area. The set up is confusing and we couldnt find a campsite person to assist us with where our site was etc.

“Picturesque Scenic Overlook and Trail”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 5, 2013

Pikes Peak State Park, located right on the Iowa/Wisconsin border, is well maintained and has a beautiful multi-level overlook of the Mississippi River Valley and across the river, Prairie du Chien. There are wood/cement trails to walk into the bluffs that are easy and safe even if you don't have hiking shoes on. No rugged terrain here. A quick stop if you are looking for someplace to have a picnic or take a break. Visit in the fall to see the trees changing colors.

If you are in Northeast Iowa you have to stop at this park! It will take your breathe away. Any pictures you take will be sure to be on your Christmas card.
