“A must!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 18, 2012

Our tour guide was very informative. The Stockman House is not to be missed--especially if you have a love of all things Wright.

“Very interesting.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 1, 2012

The tour was $10 but we learned much about Frank Lloyd Wright and this home. The staff at the museum was very accommodating, getting us on a tour that had just started.

“Frank Lloyd Wright home in Mason City, Iowa”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 24, 2012

If you like FLW, you'll like this home. The long trim of the symmetrical living room. The "break up the box" insets in the walls of each bedroom. The subtle paint variations above and below the trim strips.

The welcome center, in a separate building, is itself worth a good half-hour. A decent FLW gift shop, intro movie -- and better yet, a set of FLW models, wooden homes 2-3 feet long in complete detail, built by architecture students.

This is also a great starting point for the on-your-own walking tour of the neighborhood -- FLW-era houses in a tremendous setting.

“A rescued treasure”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 1, 2012

A lovely FLW house rescued by a group of caring citizens and lovingly restored to a museum with regular tours. Our docent was very knowledgable and clearly loved the history of the place. This was an easy 5 block walk from Central Park and the Historic Park Inn and made the perfect little excursion during our visit to the hotel. The interpretative center next door is great as well with models of many Prairie Style homes (if you're lucky, the feisty little lady running the place will ignore the "do not touch" signs all over and show you that the roofs of some of the models are removable to show the inside).
