“Recently remodeled- clean and new”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 17, 2011

Recently remodeled - rooms all new top to bottom- carpet, beds, furniture, TVs, bathroom fixtures, etc. Pool area nice and large, and biggest workout area I've seen in any hotel.

We thought the hotel was wonderfully placed in downtown and convenient for our University visit but one of the young managers (Brooke) needs to switch to decaf and relax when you initially inquire about a rate, (which is unusually high to not include internet, fridge, microwave etc..). We will shop elsewhere for a better value as the Bell staff and Customer Service desk are woefully understaffed, parking is not managed by the hotel and is a mess.

Thank you for taking the time to offer feedback on your recent stay. I assure you I will follow up on all your concerns. The parking situation is not the best sometimes but our valet service can make it very convenient. I hope we can meet your expectations next time you are in Iowa City.

Couldn't ask for a better location. I used to stay in this hotel for family Easters when it was a Holiday Inn... and after years away from Iowa was curious to see its new incarnation as a Sheraton. Well done. There is a private gym connected to the hotel that is wonderful, although a bit busy when students are in town and can be closed on holidays. When it's closed, there's a second, more 'standard' hotel fitness center that is 24 hours just a few doors down in the hotel. If you're interested in using a gym during your stay, be sure to ask about the hours of the private gym, because it's well beyond the typical fitness center you get in business hotels (but a private club, so not actually run by the hotel even though there's an entrance from the hotel's pool area). The only thing I could complain about is that I was attending a wedding in Iowa city and when I called to make the reservation (a month before the wedding) I was told that the booking period for the block of rooms that the wedding party had reserved was finished. When I arrived at the wedding, I found out that people had booked at the wedding rate two days before... it was just that the person handling the reservation over the phone had no idea what was going on. So I paid an extra $40 for the room with the regular pre-book rate than I should have.

WOW....thank you for the awesome comments about our hotel. We get a lot of these comments about how wonderful the overall hotel is since our transformation. You may also be impressed with the fact that in December and January we are ranked #6 in North America of 200 Sheraton Hotels with our Guest Service scores!! That is #6 of 200 hotels!! The team works very hard to deliver on expectations. I will most certainly follow up on your reservation experience as well. Thank you again and we hope to see you soon in Iowa City.

I stayed at this hotel for many weeks in 2010 starting in Feb. The rooms are wonderful with great bedding and nice quiet atmosphere. The lounge for elite members serves excellent breakfast and great appetizers---not just the "regular" foods, but always something extra special. You can't beat the great location either---steps away from so many great restaurants. This makes it so nice for business folks who don't want to get in the car again to drive somewhere for dinner after a long day with the client. The best part about staying at the Sheraton in Iowa City (as if all these things weren't enough!!) is the outstanding service in every part of this hotel, from the excellent front desk staff, to the service in the lounge, to the great room service provided. The manager of the hotel has clearly made serving the guests his number one priority. Each staff member goes way above and beyond to accommodate special needs/request as well. Highly recommend this hotel--for business or pleasure.

You hit the Nail on the Head!! We are all about service and ranked #6 in North America of 200 Sheratons with our Guest Service Scores for Dec 2010!! Thank you for the kind comments about the staff. Everyone works extremely hard to meet expectations and execute flawlessly. I hope to meet you next time you are here at the Sheraton....your home away from home.

We stayed at the Sheraton for our 20 year high school reunion. The location was great, right downtown. There were plenty of shops and restaurants to keep us busy while we weren't at the reunion functions. Very quite rooms and the beds were very comfortable.

Had a great stay Saturday night. When we arrived they said they upgraded us to the top floor/concierge level. That was great as the view was better and they lounge area was great place to hangout. Free snacks and water plus a great free b-fast the next day.

Pool decent and not crowded. Hot tub small but nice and warm.

Beds were extremely comfortable, maybe the best I've ever had at a hotel. Paid for the parking in the rate so that is kind of a bummer. Also think the hotel should have free wifi in the rooms. Plenty of desktops but still a high end hotel should be able to give you wifi. Obviously a great location for bars and restaurants right out your door. Highly recommended.

I stayed here October 29 and 30 for the Michigan State football game. Great property in an ideal location. Steps from bars, restaurants, boutiques and art galleries. Easy 20 minute walk to Kinnick Stadium. Everything written about the renovation is true. Everything very up to date and clean. Only concern was that the walls were a little thin and I could hear TV and conversation from other rooms. I used Starwood points as rates were a steep $350 per night for football weekend.
