Granted, I've only gone once, and I'm not a vegetarian, but if I could give this place half a star, I would. The potatoes were hard and way overcooked, the beans were disgusting and mushy, and the rest was just tasteless. This is nothing against vegetarian food - I love vegetables when they're cooked well. I just couldn't believe they were charging money for this food, and a lot of money, to boot.
I wanted to like this place. We have some friends who highly recommended this place. But you know, it just wasn't that good. The location just a few blocks from downtown is fine. It's right next to a little B&B. There are two parks each just a block away. Very idealic. The decor inside was fine. The service? Well, definitely lax but that's OK because the entire atmosphere is lax. That's one reason you go there right?
My problem w/it? The food. First, I wasn't starving the night I went there. 2nd I admit I can be a bit picky. There are just some flavors which I'm not really fond of. But still. After looking over the menu and not finding very many items that sounded enticing I decided to get the red pepper pasta. Yes, red pepper pasta. Can that even be done wrong? Well it turns out it can. My plate of pasta came. Where were the red peppers? Oh wait, i did find 3 flakes of red peppers on there. Bland, tasteless, not good, and they charged me $14 for it? Seriously, this was several years ago and I've never gone back. It was just that bad. :(
Great atmosphere and good food.
As a vegetarian this place was just too over the top with spices. I can appreciate flavor, but vegetables are great without being drowned out by the spice. I found their over-reliance on garlic to be most offensive. Give it a shot, but avoid the pastas; killing my taste buds with seasoning doesn't stop me from noticing overdone rigatoni. Apps are great. Still, I need a little more subtlety and trust in the flavors of veggies.
