I grew up on the west coast and I'm no stranger to aquariums, but this place rocks! There are tons of things to see, from the drive the steamboat simulator to the gigantic catfish that could probably eat you to the snuggling otters and turtles to the steam boat outside you can investigate on your own. There are also cool Easter eggs hidden around outside, like a wigwam and real early 1800s house.
The fee for an adult is $15 but we got in with two adults for the same price with our AZA discount. They also seem to have a Smithsonian one and others, so if you don't want to pay as much ask about discounts.
One word of advice - the wood sidewalk and stairs outside do not soak up water well and the steam boat is slippery too. If you plan on going during rainy times do not wear flip flops like I did. Ouch.
