“THe water park is great!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 22, 2012

Kids loved this because of the big bucked dumping on them and the slides. Parents liked lazy river and hot tubs. We all liked the pools.

“Family get away for all seasons”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 10, 2012

Great place to take the kids for a night. We have been 4 times and had fun every time but the boys who are now 9 and 7 have almost outgrown it. It was a large climbing area with two main slides and a large bucket that fills with water and dumps at scheduled intervals. Kids LOVE it. It also has a pitch black slide, a swimming area with basketball hoops, and a very large hot tub. There is a water area for the little kids with a large wading pool, a turtle slide, and sprinklers too. The food and drink are fairly priced for a hotel water park.

“Average Waterpark”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 29, 2011

Water was cold and the slides were boring. If you happen to be staying in Dubuque and need something for the kids to do on a winter afternoon it fits the bill. I wouldn't make it a destination trip though.

“Big investment, but lacking in overall build quality”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 26, 2011

First, I have to state that I did not come here for the hotel and waterpark so I cannot comment on that part, instead, this is where we had a 5 day seminar take place so understand that my comments will reflect the conference rooms and the areas around that.
Ther waterpark is an impressive building and very modern, however, the bathrooms had cold water come from the motion activated sinks, the toilets were underpowered (I found at least one that had been backed up more than once), the door locks and hardware in the bathrooms were broken or falling apart. There is a lot of open space and tall ceilings in the conference areas, it made me question if the rental of our room was so expensive due to a likely very high heating bill for a building of this size with so much open room?
On the positive side, there are a lot of windows with great views of the river, I hope they get a lot of passive solar return in the winter, and I am sure that the windows are highly insulated. I am sure this would make for a wonderful convention center if you had lots of people. We mainly saw it being used for weddings and city and business officals metting. I was a little dissapointed that we did not get passes to the water park even though we were holding a seminar there for 5 days. If we had chosen to stay at the hotel and pay an exorbitant nightly rate, we could have gotten them included. We were not really there necessarily for the water park though!
The place was generally a ghost town until the weekend when there were several weddings and people coming from all over to the riverfront area for the nightlife and to hit up the casinos.
Overall, it is tough to really find too many things to knock with such a new building in an area that is obvioulsy beginning to grow and just now getting more modernized.
