“Price/value relationship BAD”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed March 5, 2012

Over priced with decidedly limited amenities. The room was cold, had to be less than 50 when we checked in and the heater was way to small and noisy. The TV was across the room, small. Dusty all over. This is kinda a scratch & dent hotel. Dubuque IA & looking for $100 plus for weekend nights. This is closer to a $50 hotel.

Never again.

OK hotel if you are looking for just a bed to sleep in, but if you have a group that wants to get together for anything there isn't really too much room for a gathering. Pool wasn't very good either, small. OK location with a grocery store across the highway, price was OK though for what you get though.

Barely adequate in most important respects. An old, noisy facility with a tiny pool, no hot tub, very average breakfast in a too-small space. There were some pluses: friendly if inexperienced staff, fast wireless, good TV. I won't stay there, again, and can't recommend it.

Room Tip: Might be better to be in the wing farther from the lobby.

This hotel was chosen for our trip to the Galena/Dubuque area this fall. I reserved my room online for $89 ($100) plus tax because it was a reasonable price for the amenities it provided. I appreciated the continental breakfast (fresh waffles) and the fridge and microwave in the room. Overall, the hotel is old, and seems to have been recently updated with some minor changes (new drapes/carpet, paint in the lobby). In the room and on my floor (2nd) there were areas with paint peeling/bubbling, the exhaust fan in the bathroom didn't work so the mirror was awfully steamed up after a shower. I had requested a king size bed and was given 2 doubles instead which I tollerated. The coffee maker and air conditioning/heater worked fine.

The rooms are small and the pool is smaller. They were out of bottled water and someone got sick in the pool and no one (but the parents of the child) did anything about it. We had to take our breakfast back to our room to eat because there wasn't enough room in the breakfast nook.

We have stayed here numerous times, because our son goes to University of Dubuque and enjoyed our stay every time. I would highly recommend this hotel to any family. Only draw back is they close pool at midnight. Thank You

Room Tip: Rooms are quieter on 2nd floor.
