“Hmmmm not sure where I am with this place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 25, 2013

I was starving when we went here, so I was going to eat the food and plenty of it. They have lots of options. We went for dinner at about 4:30p since we had missed lunch. The restaurant was pretty empty. We were seated right away. We both ordered seafood pasta dishes that came with salad and garlic bread. They came fairly quickly. The garlic bread was very wet with butter or oil. The salad also had lots of dressing but it was tasty and I was starving. The main dishes came out fairly promptly. The server didn't know any of the history of the restaurant and wasn't particularly attentive. She just did what she need to get by. The food was good but not outstanding.

“Fine Italian in a quiet setting”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 29, 2013

We had a really tasty Italian dinner at Vinny's. The meals came with garlic bread (which didn't have too much butter on it as another negative review said) and a nice Italian style salad. The portions were large. My husband thought his veal marsala was the best he's ever had. I loved my pasta dish. Special requests didn't upset them, which tells me it was all fresh made. It was very quiet on the weekday evening we went. Our server was excellent and had time to tell us some information about Dubuque which was quite informative. I'd recommend Vinny's for some excellent service and Italian cuisine.

“Fantastic service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 27, 2013

Went with a large group(45), and made arrangements ahead of time. Everything was above meeting our expectations. Service was fantastic for a large group. Food was excellent. Can't say enough about how helpful and friendly the staff was. Highly recommended!

“Not authentic Italian”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2013

Food is edible but nothing to rave about--tastes too commercial. The bread is saturated in butter/oil. The atmosphere is attractive with lots of stuff to look at and a large bar area, but the tables are not very cozy/romantic. No booths, just tables. For a truly authentic Italian experience, check out Marco's or Mario's, with preference to the former.

“Italian comfort food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 20, 2013

Checkered tablecloths, candlelight and smells of roasted garlic and tomato sauce. That's what you are greeted with as you enter this small restaurant. There is nothing fancy here or gourmet Italian, but there is good food based on recipes that an Italian grandmother might have passed along. So,don't expect to be "wowed" with some unusual Italian dish, but do expect to find unlimited salad and garlic bread, good portions on tasty pasta and a cozy atmosphere.
