We were the first to arrive at 4:30pm (opening time.) We received a warm welcome and our choice of seating. The restaurant is elegantly decorated with light classical music playing softly in the background.
Our waitress Sherry greeted us promptly and offered us two wine tastings: a red and a white. I instead chose the Chardonnay listed first on the wine menu, and it was delicious.
Sherry delivered my wine with some homemade bread a herb-infused olive oil for dipping. I ordered the chicken Cordon Bleu Florentine with roasted rosemary potatoes and "chef's vegetable," which on this particular day was broccoli, red and orange bell peppers. The sauce on the chicken was not slathered on-just the right touch, but I wanted to lick my plate;) Potatoes and vegetables were seasoned perfectly and perfectly cooked. The chicken was juicy, tender and flavorful, but there seemed to be only one lone spinach leaf inside: so much for the "Florentine,,,"
My husband ordered the 8 oz. tenderloin filet-medium-with mashed red potatoes and chef's vegetable. The filet was perfectly cooked with a great tenderness and beefy flavor; mashed potatoes were excellent.
Each entree was accompanied by soup or salad; all dressings are made in house. We had salads with ranch and one with balsamic vinaigrette-vey good. (They also offer mango and raspberry vinaigrette, along with many other choices.)
Too full for dessert, we were delighted to be presented with a little loaf of banana bread with a pretty gold twist and a restaurant sticker as a "thank you" for dining with Caroline's-a nice touch. Parking is plentiful both in front of the restaurant as well as the hotel's upper lot.
