Wonderful Hotel! We had a little trouble parking in the lot across the street but once we were in we were greeted by fabulous staff. As we walked in our room you could smell the oak on the door. It was great! Smallish room but made up for it in ceiling and bathroom size. Cleanest hotel in Iowa too! The bed was even comforatable! We took the elevator to the basement to check out the spa room. Large hot tub, no pool but we loved the steam room and sauna. More exercize equipment then in most gyms. They also provides fresh fruit in a basket down there. We never checked out the massage room but we never saw anyone there. I would not reccomend this hotel for small children (under 10) It is a very "classy" place. Anyone else I would give a all time high recommendation to staying in Des Moines. It is a little pricey but worth it. Also it is a safe neighborhood and the front desk will give you directions to about anywhere in Des Moines. We loved our experience at this hotel!

My wife and I stayed at the Suites of 800 Locust for the second time in March and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We ate at the Embassy Club at the top of 801 Grand which provided spectacular views but prefer the food at 801 Steak and Chop House. The staff is always accomodating and we love the fireplaces in the rooms. A definite must stay in downtown Des Moines.

My wife and I stayed in a Whirlpool Suite and found the accomodations fantastic. Be sure to visit the Spa area. The spa contains a wonderful gym, whirlpool and steam room.

Great place to stay. Would reccomend it any time.

As the others have said here, this really is a terrific hotel, probably the best in Des Moines. Rooms are spacious and comfortable (ask for the corner fireplace suites) with huge bathrooms, and everyone is very friendly. Complimentary passes to The Embassy Club, a private club located on the 41st floor of 801 Grand (Iowa's tallest building, two blocks away) are included with the stay, but I recommend going there only for drinks after dinner. For dinner, you can't beat SPLASH, a seafood restaurant 6 blocks away. I've traveled all over the world and this restaurant in Des Moines has the best King Crab Legs and other seafood anywhere. There's not much in Des Moines, but if you happen to find yourself there, you now know the best hotel and restaurant anyway.

Beautiful hotel, by far the best in Des Moines! They have amazing amenities, and be sure to go the Embassy Club for dinner!
