“Great Place for the Price!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2014

We stayed here on our way to Wisconsin. Price was great for what we wanted. We walked in and they had hot dogs, cookies, coffee, nice surprise. The lady at the desk was super friendly! It's an older place, but very clean, apparently dog friendly, saw people with them! Our room was clean, the shower was new, our room had 2 double beds, bed was a spring mattress and not very comfortable, but we got by! Room was spacious, bathroom had 2 sinks. Train tracks are right behind the hotel near our window, but they drove by very slow in the morning,
barely heard it! They serve a nice little get by breakfast, very cool! Had biscuits & gravy, bagels, oatmeal, cereal, juices, fruit, way more than we expected and very good! This place, even though a little old, was fantastic for the price and what you get!

From the outside we didn't expect much, but the price was good so we were prepared for whatever. What a lovely surprise when we walked inside, from the friendly greeting and supper waiting in a crockpot in the lobby (mesquite grilled chicken) to a clean and comfortable room. Very nicely remodeled. Breakfast was great, oatmeal, biscuits w/gravy, toast, bagels, (so happy they included whole wheat) fresh fruit, and more. Definitely a good deal!

Western Inn was just a stop over for a night, arrived after dinner and were excited to use there pool. Check in was great, fast and very friendly- especially after driving for 10+hrs from Wyoming. Was given a 1st floor room- very spacious room lots of space, smelled nice (febreeze car scents on a/c while running made that happen). The hallways to the rooms was very wide which is something I noticed and would be good for someone that has accessibility issues. Bathroom was ok size, I liked the extra sink outside bathroom. Pool was clean and refreshing- closes at 10pm but we had an hour before closing with no one in it. Beds... now that is the downfall to this place, only thing we were not happy about- beds were springy, and the linens/sheets on the bed were bally, the beds were SO uncomfortable that it made us have a horrible sleep and when your traveling the bed is one of the main most important things that is important to us. So if this place just updated beds/linens it would be great. The breakfast was good... biscuits & gravy, cereal, toast/bagels, coffee/juice- can't go wrong. Easy to find off the highway, but people were friendly and this place is clean- you can tell they are doing some updates just not all at once. Please just update the beds/linens!

Just a quick night rest while traveling. Easy to get to close to highway and quick places to eat. Friendly staff. Clean room with comfortable beds and a nice size bathroom for a hotel. Not to pricey either. $70 without booking prior.

We booked this on Hotwire site unseen for 77 bucks. Was supposed to be a 2.5 star. Yeah, maybe 30 years ago. If you want to be thrown back into the 80's this place is for you. Tube TV, grandma's phone and dark brown decor makes it feel like the Reagan era once again. Have your fill on biscuits and gravy in the morning, because that's the only warm stuff they have for breakfast. And don't miss the powdered coffee creamer either. Pool was closed due to someone vomiting in it. Not again.

Room Tip: keep going

There was only one lady working most of the night/day. She was not very nice, and I never once saw her smile. When the toilet clogged in our room, she couldn't even come up and bring a plunger, we had to go down and get one from her. I was just not at all impressed with the people working here.

As in real estate, location is everything. The Inn is very conveniently located off the highway but is situated in an area that makes one think of urban renewal. If you can get past that, the Inn itself is very adequate and clean. However, the linens and towels hopefully will be replaced when the budget allows. Although we didn't make use of it, the pool area is very pleasant and would be a draw when traveling with children. The hot dogs and cookies in the evening were a nice touch. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Our purpose in being there was to go sight seeing in Council Bluffs and Omaha and the money we saved by staying there instead of in the city was significant. We ate breakfast there the first morning but after that we walked over to the Village Inn.

Room Tip: We were on the side of the Inn located right along a railroad track but at no time when we were in t...
