This hotel needs a major upgrade. The rooms were okay, but dark and outdated. Also could hear the neighbors and noise from the pool area. We had a loft room with jacuzzi and balcony that overlooked the pool. The pool was so cold we couldn't swim. The two hot tubs were disgusting. They were filthy and only a few jets between the two were working. An employee even agreed saying they knew they were really bad, but no one seemed to really care about cleaning them. The hallway where our room was located was a sauna! Every time we opened the door to our hallway the heat and smell would slam into you. The free breakfast was fine, they even had hot food which is nice (scrambled eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy and waffles). Unless there is a major renovation, we will not return.

BAD choice for our anniversary celebration with our family .Where to begin our Room,Pool,Restaurant,Breakfast Area . This was a complete disappointment from the desperately outdated dirty carpeting throughout to the disgusting pool area with an over abundance of visable MOLD !! NO towels available at the pool was a bonus ? Our granddaughter used the hot tub, when we viewed the water we had her immediately get out,the water appeared dirty and had a film. Breakfast was held in the pool area it was unkempt with trash overflowing, cereal overflowing ,dirty rags laying on the counters .When we arrived most all the hot items were empty so we had to go to the front desk to ask that they refill the items .The restauraunt was a complete disaster under staffed, unorganized our 6 meals ranged from cold to over cooked the wait was totally unacceptable. We will NEVER revisit this establishment ! Best Western should highly consider their affiliation with this property it is a complete nightmare

This Hotel has very friendly staff and pretty unique theme. The rooms are clean and provide good amenities. The restaurant downstairs has delicious food. Overall it is very good place to stay at decent rate.

On a trip across the country, we stopped in Coralville for a rest. I like to get something a little different, and this place fit the bill.

Clearly, it's Medieval-themed (think knights, not princesses). All the doors boast pained crests, and the walls are adorned with murals and smaller paintings. Rooms seem to each have their own character, with multi-level layouts, and stocked bookshelves around fireplaces. The lobby has comically large "thrones" and a spiral-ish staircase.

We had a single king suite. It had a separate bedroom with french doors and a pull-out couch for the kids. (I'm really starting to hate doing that to them. SO uncomfortable.) Everything was clean and functional. The bathroom was Spartan and showing it's age. Pillows were terrible.

The indoor pool is surrounded by room windows, so no one's getting much privacy there. Above the pool is a stained glass dome, which leaks, but at least there is a pool to catch it.

There is a restaurant on site (did not visit) located in their basement. Discounts given to guests.

The breakfast was passable, just OK (cereal is a good option! but at least it's an option), and is presented next to the pool, right next to some rooms. Do what you can to avoid staying in those!

They also have some arcade style games and a pool table. That area smells like a bar. Very strong smoke smell. Reminds me of a bowling alley from the 80s.

I could stay again. Especially if they updated.

Room Tip: Avoid the pool area.

We booked late and had to take a poolside room. Very noisy quite late. Plus it was more expensive. The room was very clean and up to date. The lobby needs updating.
I would prefer a charge for pets based on any damage done. Two year old children do much more damage than our dog who did no damage and we were charged $20 up front.

We booked the Queen with Square Whirlpool room (didn't say Suite) for our anniversary, which is the only time we spend away from our young children. While the staff was friendly and the hotel looked nice, our room (ROOM 103) was less than relaxing. It was literally right next to the lobby; peering through the peephole you looked straight into the lobby, and we could clearly hear everything going on in the lobby, which included people coming and going through the night, staff at the counter, etc. Since we could hear them, we felt uncomfortable as they likely could hear us just as well, and it made us feel the need to whisper within our own room.
The location of the whirlpool tub was also ridiculous (especially considering the noise/sound issue); it's right next to the room's door against the hallway wall... The room is set up a little cramped and there is an unused patio door on the wall opposite the entrance door, which further reduces the size/useable space of the room. The bathroom is toilet and tub/shower only; the sink, mirror, and counter are outside the bathroom and next to the entrance door opposite and facing the whirlpool.
Upon checkout, the friendly clerk asked, "How was your stay, other than the noise? I'm so sorry about that. It's the worst location for a room - especially whirlpool room and I felt bad when I saw someone booked it online." She gave me some tips: 1) When booking online, the rooms that say SUITE are not next to the lobby, rather upstairs or at the back of the hotel. 2) Even if booking online, feel free to call and verify the room is NOT room 103 and ask about the location & possible issues of the room(s). Due to her advice, I have decided not to take this hotel off my list of options, but will definitely use her advice when booking here again.
There are a variety of dining options (in addition to the hotel's restaurant) within a block or 2 of the hotel including McDonalds, Dennys, and Bandanas BBQ (like Famous Daves) as well as nice gas stations. It's also about half-way between the close CoralRidge Mall, Stuff etc (awesome consignment store) one way and the University of IA Hospitals & Clinics the other way.
I would stay at this hotel again - but only after verifying the room's location and possible noise issues.

Room Tip: Avoid ROOM 103 as it's against the lobby and you hear everything going on. 1) When booking onlin...
