We stayed at the Microtel while in Clear Lake for a show at the Surf Ballroom. Our two-queen room was reasonable size (maybe a tad on the small side for middle America, but still very comfortable), the beds were comfortable, and the room was spotlessly clean. We paid a few extra dollars ($10?) for the "upgraded" room, which essentially gets you a microwave and refrigerator, which came in handy. Our room was on the first floor near the side entrance, so we were a little nervous about noise during the night, but aside from the occasional door slam in the hallway, we didn't hear much and both slept soundly.

The free wireless internet was excellent. We even managed to stream an NFL playoff game through a Roku device on the tv, and it only buffered a few times. It's great to get decent internet connectivity in such a rural area for free.

Breakfast was pretty standard - cereal, a few pastries, muffins and bagels, coffee, hard boiled eggs. Nothing special, but on par for the price and enough to fill you up before you hit the road.

Front desk staff was extremely pleasant, organized and responsive. Check in took 2 minutes, check out took 2 minutes, no waiting either time. Overall, this is a great hotel for a night or two.
