“Good stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 1, 2013

Everything was great! Staff was helpful, hotel was clean. Easy access to US cellular center for the concert. Nice and quiet rooms. Clean facility, The public areas were well kept including the bathrooms. We will definitely stay again.

We attended a concert at US Cellular Center and this hotel is literaly connected right to it. This is a very nice place to stay and I recomend it highly. The only issue we had was housekeeping knocked on our door at 8:20 in the morning when we were checking out that day?!?! Could they not have checked to see if we had checked out yet or not?? They woke my wife and I up on our vacation/day off which we don't get much of!!!! Not cool! But, it was overall a very good experience and a great night out.

The room is spacious and beautiful and CLEAN. The front desk personnel were friendly and helpful to the max. Cookies are the bomb! I did have dinner and breakfast at the 350 First and the prices were too high for those traveling on business budget. Because I was not comfortable striking out on my own, my only option was to eat or go hungry.

Great place to see a concert and stay. Super easy to get to concert from hotel. Totally will go see more concerts because of Double Tree Hotel linked up to concert venue! Very clean rooms and nice top floor bar!

In trying to make reservations, I called the local hotel number, but after a very lengthy amount of time spent in an automated phone system, I reached a general reservation desk for all Double Tree hotels AND I had a very hard time trying to understand the obviously foreign customer service rep. I had to hang up and gave it another shot with different selections in the automated phone system. When I finally reached a local person, I received excellent customer service. She was very friendly and helpful, answering all my questions. Check in wasrelatively smooth. The room was clean and neat. A little smaller than I had anticipated, but adequate. The bathroom was exceptionally small and the sink counter nearly non-existent. We had some kid in the next room pounding on and trying to open the adjoining room door. There is a fee for Wi-Fi in the rooms; $10 per device! I was told it was free in the public areas, but that did not include the restaurant or bar. Only 2 towels and 2 wash cloths for 2 people. No Fee complimentary breakfast, so I purchased the bed & breakfast package. The first morning, we gave our breakfast coupons to the server and had our buffet. The second morning, the server seemed to be in a rush to be rid of us. We gave our breakfast coupons as the previous day, and as soon as she brought our special order eggs that you can have with the buffet, she brought a bill and left it on the table! We had to hail another waitress to tell her we shouldn't have a bill for $30, we had the breakfast coupons. She took it to our waitress who then brought it back out and said it was taken care of with the coupons but it was to show we were done. We didn't receive a bill the previous day of any sort and this one showed we owed, not that it was paid! Parking is an issue, unless you use the valet parking. It is quite a walk to the parking ramps, especially when one has a problem getting around (walking) in the first place. There is a pool on the 3rd floor, but we did not even check it out since they don't have a hot tub. The view was pretty cool from our 20th floor room and the restaurant on the 16th floor...as good of a view as you can expect in downtown Cedar Rapids! It was interesting to see the city from a different perspective. Especially the thunderstorms we watched at night and the next day!

Brand new, awkward parking with limited/no signage and $12/day in Iowa! Nice TV, but indicated as ESPN HD was not HD, poor quality on rare night I wanted to watch a game in room. Loud train at 6am. No hot water Friday morning. Bright illuminated light switches at night lit up the room. No replacement bar soap during 3 day stay. Fees for internet is old school strategy. Had higher expectations for a new DoubleTree.

We stay-cationed at this hotel for my fiancé's birthday. The room was spacious, but at the cost of a small bathroom. The sink was in the room itself and had essentially no counter space. We stayed on the 14th floor which was nice, but Cedar Rapids is not the most beautiful city (at no fault of the hotel's). No troubles sleeping, but I did hear someone get up early to use the bathroom and I could hear them without any trouble....

We had heard good things about the Bud Light Lounge, but were disappointed when we got there. The bar is large, open, but gray, gray, and more gray. There were only 5 high top tables and the rest low tops. There were only 4 chairs placed at the bar so we had to steal from a high top. (When we got there there were only 2 other people in there). We ordered a Coors Light, but they only had one that was cold. We asked for an Ultra, but there weren't any that were cold either. He had to settle on his third choice. We heard another couple ask for a shot, but he only had enough for one, not two as requested.

Later that night we decided to try the 350 Lounge on the 16th floor. Nice view. We did not have anything to eat while there.

Check in was easy and we got the warm cookies. Express check out. They do not have any rooms with whirlpool tub. Great location within walking distance to the downtown bars and restaurants.
