I recently had a business trip that brought me to Valparasio and this restaurant was made as a secondary recommendation by my hotel. I went and had a drink at the first restaurant they recommended (Kelsey's) and decided to try the Strongbow Inn. I am so glad that I did. After reading many of the reviews I wondered if I ate at the same place. While I would agree that the place is somewhat dated, the charm of the restaurant and the Blue Yonder Lounge was great.
This restaurant has been in existence since 1940. It was a restaurant that was orginally tied in with Turkey Farm along the Lincoln Highway or US Route 30. As such, they have had 72 years to get their traditional Thanksgiving meals down to a science and that they have done that with perfection. My Tradtional Thanksgiving Meal was excellent and I have no complaints. I happened to show up on a Thursday night which was also half price wine bottle night so I was able to enjoy the evening at a great price.
I decided to eat in the Blue Yonder Bar and Roz the Bartender/Waitress did an excellent job. She has been there for 13 years and showed great pride in her work. Kudos Roz!
I would not hesitate in eating here again and would recommend this place to anyone traveling through Valpo.
