“Great hotel!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 29, 2009

I stayed this past Friday with a group of friends for a wedding and I have absolutely no complaints! In fact, I praise this hotel for the service and cleanliness! The staff at the desk were very nice and informative! We arrived to the rooms and they had arranged for us to have connecting rooms which was fantastic! The rooms were very clean and well put together! Truthfully, our group was kind of loud and we probably should've been a little bit quieter. hehe.

I work in the hotel industry and know all about guest complaints. And I know well of poor reviews given by past guests. The poor reviews on here? STICK A PACIFIER IN YOUR MOUTH AND TAKE A NAP!!! Fact of the matter is, [--] happens. Deal with it.

Pear Tree in was a great hotel to stay at and I would stay there again in a heartbeat!

This hotel was one of the more pleasant discoveries during our month-long road trip. Armed with a discount coupon for $44.99 ($20 off the rack rate) and having read positive recent reviews on Tripadvisor, we called a couple of hours before arrival to reserve a room.

The hotel is an older four-story property located next to the interstate, so we requested a room on the opposite side and enjoyed a quiet night’s rest. Check-in was friendly and efficient. This is Drury Inn’s “budget” chain but we found the room to be as clean and comfortable as those at Drury itself. Our room had two cushy double beds, a recliner, TV with good cable selection, a desk, and a window that opened, albeit at a slant and without a screen. There was no micro/fridge, which would have been nice, but this is supposed to be budget, remember. Lighting was quite good. Wifi worked fine. Air freshener was present though not overwhelming.

The one drawback was the world’s smallest bathroom, which reminded us of what you might find in a larger RV. The vanity was designed for people about four feet tall and it was possible to wash your hands while sitting on the toilet. But all was clean and functional.

Pear Tree has Drury’s generous checkout policy, which was nice for us as we arrived quite late. While checkout is usually 11 a.m., they’ll let you stay until 12 or 1 if you ask. Breakfast was served until 9:30; we slept in and missed it.

We had a nice stay and would return again. Grading on a budget hotel scale, this was a five-star property for the price we paid. Overall, compared to places two and three times the price, it still deserves a good three stars.

Stayed here because our favorite property was booked. The hotel has improved since it became a Drury property. The room was clean and the bedding was good. Staff was friendly and sought to be helpful. The complimentary breakfast was minimal, so we chose to go to one of the many restaurants close by.

We stopped here just becuse we were very tired of driving, but didn't know anything about the area. There was something going on in town and apparently there were very few rooms left anywhere. We were glad they had rooms here- ended up with a roll away and a king. Not our first choice, but I think we were lucky to get a room that night! By the time we brought the luggage in the roll away was already the room. There was a fridge and microwave and a coffee maker. Everything was clean and good working order. The breakfast was the usual "continental fare" with lots of breads, cereals, doughnuts. Breakfast area was pretty small, so we ate breakfast in our room. This was just a quick stop for us so I didn't look around much. Apparently much improvement in cleanliness and service has taken place since the last 2 reviews were written in 2004. I had never heard of this brand of hotel so I had no idea what to expect. It is not fancy on the outside, so I was glad it was nice on the inside.

Two of us (both females) were traveling back home from vacation and stopped at the Pear Tree Inn in Terre Haute to spend the night. We were given a room key to the 4th floor and when entering the room we noticed the person before had not checked out (this was late at night). We don't know if they were in the room - only could see the end of the bed with cloths on it and toletries in the bathroom and hurried out of the room. The room we were given next was very dirty. The back of the bedspread was VERY soiled with a very identifiable mess, coffee pot was not cleaned, bathroom also was very dirty. Drapes and carpenting were ragged and worn. Could not sit in chairs because of filth. The elevator was also very unstable. Needless to say we will never stay there again.

My son, along with 150 to 200other men, were called from the Marine Reserves to active duty with the United States Marine Corp on January 5, 2004. While awaiting deployment to Iraq he was stationed in Terre Haute and ordered to stay at this motel. All was okay (except for several things that were stolen when they were out of their rooms)until the day of check out when the men were not allowed a late check out without paying extra for it. It was not their fault that the bus was not coming to pick them up for transport until 2:00. They had to either get out of the room, all backpacks and seabags out of the building or else pay up for an extra day. What a way to treat men who are leaving their families, jobs and everything else they know to go protect this country and provide you and I the freedom that the United States is known for. Surely there were a couple of rooms they could have placed their things in and waited in until the buses came. These men were all from 50+ miles away and most didn't even have a car or any way for transportation until the buses came. Give me a break!!!!! You'd better believe this has left a sour taste in my mouth for any future with Drury Inn's anywhere or of any kind. As for me and my family ~ they can all take a hike!!!
