I have quite simply never experienced such warm hospitality as that received at Emu Bay Holiday homes (which, in fact, is a set of private hotel cabins rather than vacation rental homes). Ann Horbelt and her husband were not only excellent hosts, but they went far beyond the call of duty with my stay. Sure, you might stay somewhere else in your lifetime where you're handed eggs for breakfast freshly laid by the owner's chickens... but these hosts went far beyond that - even bringing me (and some food) along to Emu Bay to feed the resident pelicans.
And what of the accommodation you might ask? Quite simply, fantastic! A relaxing hideaway, only 500m uphill from Emu Bay (the uphill part is important, not because it's a steep climb, but because you're rewarded with an amazing view of the bay (and of sunrise) from your cabin. Comfy beds, homely rooms... far more charm than most of the hotels I've stayed in on my travels!
I should also add that Kangaroo Island is such a lovely place to stay that, if you're fond of wildlife and scenery, I suggest you make it part of your Australian itinerary (and Emu Bay Holiday homes your base to explore this wonderful island).
