I had to spend a night in South Bend for work and a colleague suggested this hotel. I was unsure whether I should take a chance on a non-chain hotel in a place I've never been before.
I was pleasantly surprised upon entering the hotel and it didn't stop there. The lobby was very nice and clean and the staff was helpful when checking in. I arrived there after a long day of work and was pleased to find out that on Wednesday's in the summer they have complimentary beer, wine, and bbq food from 5-7PM.
The room was also a pleasant surprise, spacious, clean and well appointed. I was also pleased to see the free internet access in the room and wireless in the lobby.
I would definetely stay here again if I did have to return to South Bend.

A wonderful place to stay. A home away from home. Sumptious breakfast, really great beds! Very cordial staff, go to great lengths to accomadate their guests. Close to everything. The Michiana area is a wonderful place to visit and The Inn makes a terrific base for several interesting side trips. Amish country, South Bend's many attractions and it is only an hour and a half from Chicago. Close to Lake Michigan, great shopping and golf.

Inn may be at St. Mary's College, but across the street from Notre Dame! A family-friendly environment, but I found it filled with adults more often than children, but they are welcome.

I only stay there when visiting in the area. Book reservations early as at-home football games make it difficult to find accomadations.

We just recently returned from traveling cross country from PA to Nevada.
Our first stop was to tour Notre Dame. The Inn of Saint Mary's was top notch accomodations. The hotel staff was friendly and courteous. The rooms were extremely well appointed and the beds +++ comfortable. As for breakfast, which is included in the room rate, make your own waffles, scrambled eggs, oatmeal, cereals, etc. It was one of the top four hotels of our trip.

Nice rooms, odd configuration of the King with pull out sofa. The back side of the hotel is very drab and no trees or any vegetation, just parking lot.
Decent rates unless there is a football game or graduation etc. and then they triple the normal rates. It is outrageous for families trying to visit kids in college. Breakfast is good with very helpful food service professionals.
